Perhaps I should explain, though maybe no one cares, that by smash and bash science fiction what I mean is that the Human/Humans+allies ALWAYS WIN in a way that causes awe.
Feeds the ego.

Read self published fiction. There is a ton of stuff like that, but for some reason the publishers aren't going after it. Get Amazon unlimited and go for all the free to read stuff. Expeditionary Force is up that alley. Crade is a mix of scifi and fantasy but probably works. Throw in nearly any LitRPG like He Who Fights with Monsters or Dungeon Crawler Carl and Bob's your uncle

I've read quite a bit of LitRPG over the past few years but it's really hit or miss. Lots of junk out there but there are some good ones.

I've heard the type of fiction described in the OP as "HFY", short for "Humanity, F*** YEAH!" Pretty sure there's a subreddit dedicated to recommending those types of stories that you might be interested in.

Yeah, you've really got to go with friend recommendations, reddit, goodreads and even amazon reviews to find good self published stuff. There's a lot out there but most of it is not very good
