Advent Reflection on 2 Peter

Until the day dawns and the morning star rises:
Remember the coming of Jesus in might;
His honor and glory confirmed in the heavens:
"This is my Beloved, in whom I delight."

Until the day dawns and the morning star rises:
Beware the false tongues who entice and opine;
In greed they exploit with smooth words of deception,
For they cannot help but the truth to malign.

Until the day dawns and the morning star rises:
Beloved, recall what the prophets inspire:
That scoffers will lustfully question the promise,
That Jesus is coming with judgement and fire.

Until the day dawns and the morning star rises:
Hold fast to the peace made alive at his birth,
Consider the patience of God as salvation,
Awaiting the new heavens and the new earth.
