What methods do y'all think are most effective.

Fwiw, I have Bibles and Max Lucado 3:16 tracts in my waiting room and offer prayer to all my patients.

Do y'all think other methods are more effective?

Thanks.

That's an interesting question. I don't think it can be a one size fits all. I remember growing up, I know some guys that walked their faith in a way that was not vocal unless you asked them, but there was always something about how they acted/treated people etc that you just knew there was something different about them. I knew they were Christians because we were all involved in Younglife and other things...but there was something about them. They were never quick to anger, they showed love for everyone and they mostly seemed at peace all the time.

Being around them always stuck with me and in addition to what scripture says, they were a tangible experience of one living out their faith.

I think ideally if you can plant the seed without being overbearing (or proselytizing), that's a start. And if you know more about them or interact with them on a fairly frequent basis, then I think you have options to tailor your approach.

I don't think the shotgun approach or confrontation approach is effective with strangers. Often it may not come across as being genuine but rather look like we are just trying to raise ourselves above them without any sincerity.
I think it should be a skill we develop as opposed to a sales pitch we just repeat verbatim.

Agree completely.

I think the stranger confrontation approach hurts more than helps.

Captain Obvious comment I know….but I think it depends on the person…like I've mentioned before for me it was kinda always there (presence of God) as I never had a "ah-ha" moment so listening to someone from the pulpit witness really wouldn't have made a difference to me. However I have several friends that did have that "moment" while sitting in a pew listening to a sermon…others got there by watching good and faithful men of God live their lives and wanted to emulate that…bottom line is I think there's lots of ways to get there..imho..

Humility is the first step. Realizing that you do not convert anyone and your job is ultimately to be a tool of the Holy Spirit. Prayer for all is needed and realize that all the fine arguments we make on here do not win souls. Often what converts someone is an act of kindness you may not even realize your doing at the time. Just remember the Lord call his flock to himself and his sheep will know his voice.

All kinds. Check out Evangelism Explosion materials.

https://evangelismexplosion.org/resources/answers-to-tough-questions/#:~:text=How%20do%20you%20know%20God,so%20much%20evil%20out%20there%3F

You basically print these out and put it on a clip board and get the conversation going to plant seeds and share the gospel in following after the questions are asked.

It's right there when you click on the link in order.
But you have to download the pdf below the sample questions.

It is from the Reformed Tradition.

As mentioned above, really depends on your audience. This has been the case since Peter and Paul. Peter found it easy to covert Jews because they already had a foundation in scripture and prophecy and the coming of Christ. Paul struggled with the Greeks because when he proclaimed "Jesus is the Son of God", their response was "which one?". That I think is the great challenge as our society becomes more secular.

I recently watched the above interview with Isaac Hess who is a convert from LDS to Catholicism. Long but an amazing interview that could be the topic of 5 threads on this board. Around 3:19:30 is a 4-5min beautiful discussion on evangelization and the idea place forth by St Teresa of Avila. "Evangelization takes place by attraction not by pressure or proselytizing".

Thanks for the link but those tracts are too "turn or burn" for me. I personally do not think those are as effective as more grace based tracts.

And I do not believe in eternal conscious hell so there is that.

"There is no monopoly on the mission" - Fr. Timothy Radcliff, OP

In other words, there are many ways to spread the word of God, however, what seems to me to be the most effective is the one that is rooted in love. That they will know you are Christian by the love you have for one another is the key.
