I posted this on the OB, but I figured some here would appreciate it. I had a Bible with a bonded leather cover. It wasn't too old (I've seen plenty of bibles in worse shape than mine) but it was aging quickly. On recommendation from someone on the OB, I mailed it off the Leonard's Book Restoration in Indiana, and had it rebound in solid calfskin. Turn around time was a month, and I suspect it will last much longer.

Here is the original cover:

You should probably go back and edit that first pic to black out your name. Anonymity on the net is a good thing.

I see your point. My username used to be my full name, so at this point, I figure no big deal.

I've never realized you can do that. I just buy new bibles……(and then just read the Bible app)

I have a love/hate relationship with the YouVersion Bible App. I love all the translations being available, I love sharing things with friends, and I love having the Bible in my pocket at all times.

My one glaring hatred for it is that tracker that notifies you how many consecutive days you've been in the app. I feel like an absolute failure if I missed a day and the counter resets to zero. Makes me feel like I should just quit altogether. Or worse, I will open it late in the day just to keep the counter going without ever taking in a single word for that day. Obviously, that's my own personal issue. As such, it's healthier for me to pick up this traditional book everyday and not get caught up on keeping some score.

This Bible was kind of a test run to see their quality. I have my great-grandmother's (born in 1911) Bible that is covered in Duck Tape and chock full of notes. I feel comfortable with sending in it to them at this point.

Haha, totally agree. I don't want an automated notification reminding me to read it. It's just another annoying phone notification.

I feel like everyone should know that ALL Christians will miss days reading the Bible and it's okay.
