When I see things like this, I can't help but think the restraints are being gradually released and that the antiChrist and his "Beast" system aren't far off.

Revelation 13:20 esv
So that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.









I believe that the following verse from the apostle Paul is describing the Holy Spirit restraining Satan until the last days, which I believe we are approaching, based on what I'm seeing going on in the world.

2 Thessalonians 2:6-7
And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.

My guess is that it will be a leader who claims to want what the moral majority wants, but outright states that he doesn't need forgiveness from God. Oh wait....Just kidding. I thought it could be Trump but apparently the number on his head just says '665.9'.

I don't think the OP is implying the spike and acceptance of widespread sexual deviance is causing the end of the world as much as you might think. Doc has correctly referenced Romans 1. God has already given much of today's culture over to a reprobate mind, so we are simply witnessing what happens to a society that's been given over to their own desires with a seared conscience.

Most of the Christians I know are not panicked as they trust the Lord. It is very comforting to have a rock to rely on.

I mentioned Romans 1 because there will always be something new in the world that is perplexing to God fearing people.

Sorry, I thought it was more obvious by the context that when I used the word "panic" it was referring to the idea of a "moral panic". And I absolutely think the current fearmongering about transgender people fits well within that definition.

Furthermore, I'd posit that most people caught up in a moral panic are incapable of realizing that fact until after it has passed. In the moment they feel perfectly justified calling for the witches to burn or that we have to change our laws because America is in real danger from shariah law or we have to ban a game because it's teaching kids to summon demons or whatever.

With all due respect, I do not see that with my Christian friends. All that stuff is worldly stuff. If you read Romans 1 and Ecclesiastes it is true there is nothing new under the sun,

As I said, we know God is in control and we will spend eternity with Him. It is very comforting to have a deep relationship with Jesus,

I love the arrogance which assumes the morals of today are so much worse than the past. Jim Crow and lynchings approved by wide swaths of "polite" society? Not a sign of the end times. Slavery where torture, rape, and murder are state-sanctioned and supported? Nope. Transgender people are clearly more evil. The early modern era where hundreds of thousands of civilians are brutally murdered in wars of religion? Nah, it's the gays that are bringing about Revelation.

I don't like making blanket statements because it's the exceptions that are where most differences lay. For instance, a small but significant number of children are born as intersex and display both male and female characteristics. Sex assignment surgery for intersex kids is relatively common in those cases. I don't oppose that. And from everything I've read the idea that trans minors are being allowed to have elective gender reassignment surgery is a myth. It just isn't happening in this country. And I'm fine with that too.

I think there's a strong case that the antichrist was Nero. The oldest copy of Revelation refers to the number of the beast as 616. Using gematria, which was popular at that time, this translated to the Latin transliteration of the Greek spelling of Nero Caesar. Later manuscripts used 666, which, using gematria, is the standard Hebrew spelling for Nero Caesar.

2 Thessalonians 2: 3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.


Whoever "the antichrist" is will come from within the Church. That's the reason the consensus thought it was the Pope during the time of the Reformation.

However, if the discussion is about the multitude of antichrists that John discusses:

1 John 2:18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come.

Then sure, Nero fits, Saul fits, Peter fits, if you get down to it, we all fit because we've all done things "against God."

7 year period, the anti-Christ will desolate the temple and at that time he will be revealed. At that point, the great tribulation begins for the final 3.5 years of the final 7 years prophesied by Daniel.

Immediately after the great tribulation, the sun & the moon go dark Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24, and Luke 21:25, and those who are saved meet Jesus in the clouds (the rapture). This is called The Day of Christ, not to be confused with The Day of the Lord, which is the period in which God delivers his wrath on those non-believers who remain on earth.

Where exactly in scripture do you glean that the last/final Antichrist will come from within the Church? To be the antichrist and fit the only 4 scriptures that specifically mention the antichrist merely states that they do not confess that Jesus is The Christ/God and denies his coming in the flesh.
The old tire idea that it was the Pope was born solely out of the reformation and the need for Protestants to have some big emphasis to draw people to them and away from the Church and provide comfort that they made the right decision to split from Christ's Church. It has zero basis in scripture or reality. Besides, the Popes, throughout history and despite their human mistakes have always confessed the divinity of Jesus. The bible doesn't say the Antichrist will publicly profess their faith but secretly not really believe it. The whole point is that they will publicly lead people away from faith in Christ.

Peter does not fit the description of the Antichrist. John 4 gives practical tests.

He was dishonest about me allegedly proclaiming that the "apocalypse" is about to occur due to the corporate social credit score system otherwise known as ESG.

In any event, with today's technology, it's possible, for the first time in human history, to track and control every person's ability to buy and sell. It has not yet been implemented, but the technology is definitely there to do it. And ESG is definitely a sign that such a system is coming. When? I don't know.

Homosexuality is unique among other sins in that it is celebrated and advocated by virtually the entirety of the western world. Christians are also very outspoken about the egregious sin of abortion.
