I am against the death penalty on moral and civil liberty grounds. But I really do not like my stance. With most of these murderers, I would be more than happy to be the one who flips the switch / pushes the plunger / whatever. I am glad to see them die, even though I am against killing them.

I think I'm one of the few people who has a political stance which they really do not personally like. I often wish I could be like the liberals who just go with whatever view makes them feel good - it sure would be easier.

Honesty is always appreciated. I don't many Christians that like the doctrine of hell however the nature of truth is that it's not always pleasant.

When you say you are against the death penalty on moral grounds, what is the moral standard you appeal to?

Question:
If one, as a Christian, opposes the just use of the death penalty for any sort of "moral" reasoning, is that person guilty of substituting his morality for Gods?

I believe we should subsidize rural counties/cities which are unable financially to use the death penalty today. Only large cities (and states) have the funding to handle the cost of such prosecutions, which is inequitable and thus violates my christian faith/beliefs in the equality of man.

This strikes me as an incredibly bad idea. And this is coming from someone that is not opposed to the death penalty in principle.

Which is fine, but you've provided no reason/rationale for that striking feeling. Financial costs play a huge role in death penalty decisions for prosecutors.

Frankly, this is part of the reason as well that death penalty prosecutions tend to also impact/involve black males more. I think justice should be color blind but I also think we should apply the (penalties under the law) equally regardless of whether the hideous crimes are committed in Houston or some tiny town in East Texas. I'm unsurprised this is disfavored by the political left though.
