~sigh!~
This reminds me of Sodom and Gomorrah all over again. (Genesis 19)
Not to mention all the evil the Lord saw on earth and came to the conclusion to send the great flood. (Genesis 6)
Oh, it's not this that reminds me of Sodom and Gomorrah, although this is evil. There was already plenty of "arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy." that we see in American society long before this. And heck, our society idolizes violence (Gen 6:11). We even want parades for it.
Rending your garments over America again? How many outfits is that this month?
Church leadership indulging in sexual depravity doesn't remind you of S&G but guns and poverty do? Do we read the same scriptures?
He mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah. I referenced the verse in Ezekiel that stated what their sin was. He mentioned Genesis, so I referenced what the verse he referenced said.
I don't recall church leadership being involved in Sodom and Gomorrah. What these priests did was evil, no doubt. But it's not what reminds me of Sodom and Gomorrah. There's much more in society that actually pertains to Sodom and Gomorrah and the verses in Genesis that stick out to me.
This has been one of the toughest weeks of my life, so I really don't have the energy to argue. The first sentence in your response to me made it clear that there isn't really a chance at mutually respectful dialogue, so I'll just move on and let you have last word.
“Conquer men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of justice to shame by your compassion."
