A question to christians: If everyone who ever lived was in heaven or hell how would the percentages play out? Do half of us go to heaven? Do a quarter of us go to heaven?
If we're talking numbers - scientists estimate that just over one hundred billion humans have lived. How many of those humans are in heaven? How many of those humans are in hell?
As others have said- no one knows, but it is fun to speculate.
1) If you look at Jesus salt and light comments. We are to be as bright of light to to the world as we can be. We are to live our life to the fullest for God. How we live our life is our gift to God. " The glory of God is a human being fully alive"- St. Ireaneus. I think we get many things wrong when we view it as pass/fail. We are not on/off light switches but rather dimmer swithces. I think the same maybe possible for heaven.
2) I like to think of Heaven as swimming in the ocean- those who are very good at it (Saints) can dive deep and fully enjoy it (get the full expeience) and others need to stay near the surface in life jackets and others just have their feet in the water. Everyone still participates but at various levels.
Jesus comments - that there are many rooms in my fathers house. Maybe it is like a rock concert and some of us have nose bleed seats and others are backstage hanging out with Jesus and his band. But all of us are at the concert.
