quote:
Why would praying to Jesus be just as offensive as praying to satan?
In my opinion, I don't think it is.
It would seem that an athiest might view a prayer to God as silly. Not sure why it would be offensive however. The athiest probably just considers it a waste of time.
Consider on the other hand a prayer to Satan. In that case, the person saying the prayer is indicating that he believes in the theology but has chosen to fight for the other side.
The latter certainly seems like it could be considered more offensive than the former.
Consider the issue in sports terms, if my neighbor is a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings, I, not being a hockey fan, won't be bothered in the slightest. However, if he is instead a big football fan and a supporter of the teasips when they play A&M, I'll be a bit more bugged by his choice of suppport. AND if I find out that he is supporting tu only because they are playing A&M and he knows that it bugs me, then I really will be offended.
All that being said, I don't think Jack Black was serious or that his actions rise to the level of being offensive. Distasteful, perhaps. But I am sure that we have all seen things on MTV that would be considered much, much more distastefull than that! Hanson? Tony Basil? Falco?
