Does anyone here know what happened to Father or was it Monsignor(sp?)?

I love the smell of cannon smoke at Kyle Field on a Saturday!

Yeah, he became Monsignor while at St. Anthony's but he hasn't been there in several years. I saw Msgr. Malinowski at the Hospital in Bryan a couple of months ago. He's very involved there and, I'm not sure, but may be presiding over a smaller parish in town as well. He's got a sense of humor and has always been very good at the financial planning side of running a parish. He's one of these who, unfortunately, is appreciated more after he's gone than he was when he was there at St. Anthony's. People just had it so good with him there that they never understood how bad it could be if he left.

Comments about Steve Kana removed. There are simply way too many details to bother with that story in a thread designated for information on a much more honorable priest, Msgr. John Malinowski.

Paul Crewe - I kindly ask that you remove the statements about Fr. Kana. Thanks.

BTW - The altar & Church are not to be "dressed up" with decorations during lent. You not supposed to have flowers, white or gold colors, etc.

Technically, the priest shouldn't allow weddings during a penitential season. If he did, however, he was right in not allowing flowers, etc.

Back to Kana....he's not "Father" to me....recent revelations in the Steve Kana saga are even more alarming than what I had anticipated. If Steve Kana is not defrocked sometime soon, I will renounce Catholicism....not that I didn't already have some issues with Catholicism....but this would be the last straw.

Flip Pallot - Please don't take offense, but I think you should judge Catholicism based on its philosophy...not based on its leadership (at any level). I have no idea, whatsoever, about what you all are discussing. I just think that the actions of any man should be exclusive of a belief in a philosophy.

Nixter, I agree with your sentiments, but isn't the idea that "Father" knows best and is beyond criticism repugnant to you?

It is to me.

They are human; they are not God.

I didn't read the comments on Kana, and don't know the story, but priests are NOT beyond criticism; only Jesus was.

Monsignor left St. Anthony's to take a position with St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan back around 1997 or so. After about a year or so I started attending St. Mary's instead of St. Anthony's.
