Seamaster,
I believe that each believer is given the Holy Spirit as a deposit, a guarantee until the day in which Christ comes again, in which the promise is completely fulfilled.
The work the Holy Spirit does in the believer is multifaceted. He comforts, He helps us, He testifies truth to us, etc. Does He lead into complete knowledge of the truth? I haven't seen any evidence that this has happened to any believer (or church) yet. But yet we (the individual believer and the church) are still dependent upon Him to know ANY truth and outside of the Spirit we can know nothing.
Another thing to consider is that knowledge isn't the end all be all of being in the truth, one must own that knowledge and believe.
