I have a Jewish coworker who got me a copy with the English next to the Hebrew...cool stuff I think this is from 1955.

I did grow up animist, but the parents still wanted us educated. And an educated person must read the Bible in order to understand many allegories written about in literature.

And the KJV was the one used for that purpose. We usually read it through by age 14 so that you could know the stories. As a smart alec youth, I used the Onanism story to my teachers' dismay. "Hey, it's in literature, so it's acceptable."

Of course, in our liberal area, we also read "The Godfather" in school.

that "balance" thing is important.

We were allowed to read anything and kids didn't abuse it much. Now everything is sensored, unless it promotes a gay lifestyle, such as "My two mommies."
