There was a long lull from the time that most of the injured people were cleared from the site to the time the last couple of people were removed. Specifically John Comstock. All of the medics and firefighters were gathered around near where the top of the stack was on the ground.

I had just gotten my patient clear of the stack and moved him to an ambulance to be transported to the hospital then joined the other medics near John.

I tried to make light of the situation and told the female paramedic next to me, "hey, at least it's not raining". Not two minutes later it lightly rained on us just briefly. Almost like God, putting us in our place.

It's a silly story I've thought of frequently for 20 years and never shared.
