Nice to see the old with the new.

I was the first to allow women to actually work a cut site (rather than just serve lunches, haul water, etc).

There's a lot to unpack from Family Cut. Three generations of McInnis photographers converged on the Woods. My father captured some of Bonfire's first years off campus back when I was a Grey Pot. Today, my daughter is an adoptive member of Legett Hall, a hell of a lot of motivation in a small package.

While I'm working through the second half of the day, here are some of the scenes my daughter and I happened to shoot at the same time, side-by-side.

Memorial Shift (6 images)

Every year on November 17, Stack rests so that all participants may rest and reflect in advance of the Bonfire Remembrance Ceremony. Past Red Pots return to relieve Bonfire leadership and guard Stack. This is the Memorial Shift.

Last Shift (79 images)
I commissioned the first Last Shift photo in 2009. I began shooting in 2010 and have taken that photo every year since. We take the Last Shift photo after the last log is wired in, always deep in the night, after Push Week, and usually cold. This season was a grind that everyone involved will long remember. In spite of this, or maybe because of it, Last Shift 2019 was the biggest ever.
