Bonfire is instead having a get-together at the Chicken. If y'all are in the are in the area, stop by to share pitchers and stories and such.

I tried that argument in 2005 and 2011, and it didn't work.

Still haven't heard anything. I assume it will either be before our bowl game, or in January after all the students return.

Commando, an announcement is probably forthcoming in the next day or two (my guess).

If it ends up being a burn open to the general public it will be on a weekend night to allow the working crowd to attend.

There was talk of maybe trying to wait until the bowl game to have Burn but that will probably not be the case.

An announcement was finally made on the Facebook group at 14:35 yesterday.

quote:
Stack Site is on the mend, but still relying on the weather to cooperate. Bonfire is considering a few dates for Burn. Our highest priority is bringing together as much of the Aggie family as possible, while also allowing our participants to attend, all in a safe manner.

Weather permitting, this Saturday, December 7 may be an option. This is heavily dependent on continued clear skies and absolutely no precipitation on the field. Overcast and rainy is the forecast starting Thursday.

Saturday, December 14 would make for a pre-bowl, post-graduation fire. However, participants and most of the rest of the student body will have returned home by then. Dorms for on-campus Crews would have shut down entirely by the Thursday before.

Saturday, January 18 would mark the end of syllabus week and the start of another Bonfire year. Additionally, Aggies will have more time to arrange travel and lodging, both of which should be cheaper. Big plans are in the works for 2014 and a January Burn is a highly motivational start to the new year.

We are still weighing all of our options. And that's where we stand, Ags.

The weather forecast shows a chance of rain every day from the 4th to the 8th, so that makes a Burn on the 7th unlikely.

Stack will Burn on the 18th of January. From the FB page:

"While Stack Site has been recovering from the heavy rains that postponed Burn, we have been fortunate to have mostly sunny and dry conditions. Unfortunately, forecasted weather has begun moving in. Rain has been a possibility, but it is now a near certainty. For this reason, Bonfire cannot continue to pursue Burn on December 7.

Additionally, we have been mindful of the impact that a December 14 event would have on many of our participants. Feedback we have received about that date has reinforced these concerns.

So, your Bonfire will burn on January 18. This will be the end of syllabus week, and the start of a new year. And of course, an outstanding start to Bonfire 2014. Burn the Hell Outta Bonfire!"
