I received sad news today. My friends Stephen and Claire Lowde lost their mother today. On September 11th, their mother, Deirdre went into the hospital for abdominal pain. Her colon had ruptured and she suffered many complications. She developed pneumonia, her kidneys and liver failed and she became septic. There were times when everybody was optimistic and we thought she would pull through. However, after almost 2 months of fighting, she finally left us today. While we are all thankful her suffering is over, her family is struggling under the weight of medical bills, and now funeral costs.

My friend Stephen was a senior redpot in 2009. He continues to be involved in student bonfire and can frequently be found on the back porch of the Chicken whenever he comes to visit Aggieland. His sister, Claire, is a teacher at Bryan High. She has been driving back and forth between College Station and Katy for two months trying to balance her two jobs and being there for her dad.

I asked if there was anything I could do to help, and Claire asked if I could post the fund raising page she set up to help cover some of the bills that are piling up. This page was originally created when her mother was expected to make it, but now has been updated with the news of Deirdre’s passing.
