Guys, need some help real quick..

Does anyone know if the original Aggie Bonfire bumper sticker is copyrighted? Meaning.. if I have some printed, and NOT sold for a profit, am I in for some legal issues? I am totally ignorant on this stuff, so forgive me in advance.

Thanks for help!

Texas A&M has a trademark on the aTm logo.

you could try replacing the aTm with the crossed axes. Student Bonfire also has bumper stickers available...

I can't imagine someone being so bored as to chase you down for printing them for yourself and not selling them.

I know that in '99 the logo was owned by Texas A&M, and I don't see why it wouldn't still be. Still, who is really going to bust your chops over it? I say go for it.

How many do you need? A few years back someone here on Texags printed some and I think I got 10 of them. I know I still have most of them, I would just need to figure out what box they are in. I can't see myself needing them all! As long as I have one or two to keep I'll be happy.

Let me go figure out what box I have them in and I will let yall know how many I have! Our stuff was in storage for a year when our house was on the market, but I know I saw them when we were moving stuff around earlier this summer.

Years ago I had an online company make me a few stickers. They weren't exactly the same as the old ones, but close enough.

HOWDY!

If any one can get me a few of the old bonfire bumper stickers, I would be willing to pay for them. My wife's sister was one of the fallen. Her name was Jamie Lynn Hand. We named our first daughter after her. I would love to give out a couple to her family at Christmas.

Unfortunately, many have forgotten about the Bonfire families lately. My mother and father in law have had season tickets along side about 4 other families in the zone for 14 years now. But the new point system and the high prices for donations have forced them out of their section in the zone and separated the families that have all sat together. It's a shame that the school didn't consider the loss they had to endure and the fact that they stood by the school and never even thought about suing them. I wish we had the money to help them keep their seats.

I've had one of the old maroon Bonfire stickers sitting in the bottom drawer of my desk since 1999. I've been saving it for that perfect use on something that I know I'll have for a while and won't mind having a Bonfire sticker on.

The glue on it is probably shot because it's been sitting in there so long.

Bas Aggie, you are right about being forgotten. There is no one left in positions of authority that were there in 1999 and the promise to " never forget" has been forgotten.

I may not be in a position of authority, but this Ag ('93) has not, nor will I ever forget!

I am certainly not in a position of power, but I will bring this up with my connections. I know of one in particular who will never forget; I just don't know how much influence he has. The first time we met at a social function on campus, we talked about Bonfire for over an hour and pretty much ignored everyone else. It may take us a few years to move up the chain of command, but there are a few of us here that still remember.

I do believe Russell Thompson is now the Director for Student Activities. Isn't that the same Russell Thompson that was the Bonfire Advisor in '99?

But at some point the people there were going to be long gone from this administration. That's just the way Student Affairs works now days. There's fewer and fewer single institution lifers in the field (I'm a grad student going into Student Affairs).

But I can tell you, as a recent graduate, the campus itself has not forgotten. It's become so engrained into our campus culture that it will be impossible for us to forget. I know I won't, and I can comfortably say that the student body won't either.

Yes, Rusty Thompson, the former Bonfire advisor (and buttpot from back in the day, I believe) is now Director of Student Activities.

That's really good to hear. I would have thought the university's effort to purge bonfire would have included staff.

also, those of us who were young and around Aggieland at the turn of the century are scattering to the wind and spreading the memories, lessons learned, emotions, and memories to the world.

There's a chance we may even find ourselves in positions of authority one day, and, for sure, will never forget.
