Does anyone know where I could buy a silver charm of bonfire for a bracelet? I looked the last time I was in CS and had no luck.

I've never seen one before...but I'd like to get one for my wife.

I've never seen one either, but I'll probably go get one if someone posts a location.

One of the moms' clubs in the North Texas area sells charms. I'm pretty sure I saw a Bonfire charm. I'll find out which club.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep checking to see if you found anything out.

I think that centerpole pots had to wear charm bracelets with a bonfire charm to match their earings. Those kids were so cute.

The Denton County Aggie Moms' Club sells charms. They have a website, but I don't know how to post a link so you'll have to cut and paste or whatever.

dentoncoaggiemoms.nav.to

If that doesn't work, go to www.aggiemoms.org and link to Denton County that way.

Thanks for your effort, Wishful, but I just got off the phone with the Denton County Mom's and they don't have one. She did tell me that she thought that some other club may have had one in the past, but last year at the big "Parents Weekend Sale" day, that any items related to Bonfire were asked to be put away by someone in the administration. That, in itself bothers me. For old Ags such as myself, not selling Bonfire memorabilia isn't going to make me forget.

I'm sorry they didn't have the charm. I was certain they had one at the District Meeting in early April because I regret not buying it.

The ban on selling anything "Bonfire" disturbs me, as well. I feel like we're expected to act as though it never existed.

Good morning, 5aggies.

I have purchased two Bonfire charms in the past..they are just the stack with an aTm on it. Unfortunately, it's been a while back and I don't remember where I got them. Doesn't help much, does it?

However, here are some links that might be helpful for searching:

http://planetaggie.www.50megs.com/shopping/

And here's a listing of the Mom's Clubs in case one of them might still have some:

Roland and Sue Hurst '72 who own Aggieland of Texas are wonderful people. They have been invaluable to me in the past when I was trying to find something. They are located in Houston and the phone number for the store is 281/897-TAMU (8268). They also have a website but it does not show any Bonfire charms. However, they might be able to point you in the right direction or know of a vendor that still has some available.

Good luck!

I think a bonfire neck-tie would be nice to have and I'm pretty sure if it didn't say Aggie Bonfire on it, it could be made.

MOM, I should have known I could count you to have an idea. However, it was also a dead end. I do still have one more lead and I will let you know. Through this process it has become very clear that the administration wants nothing about bonfire to be made or remembered in any way.

5, you are right. A special MOM gave me a bonfire necklace soon after the collapse. There is hardly anything left--I also have one of the cinnamon stick stacks that a wonderful lady in College Station makes--a mother's day gift from son.

These I have in honor of those we lost and of what we lost.

Sad that they do not even want us to have that.

If the phone number is still good, try Moore Ideas . This is the lady who makes the cinnamon bonfire stacks. Try 1-800-633-5011 or 690-1900. Both numbers are ON my gift and might be a little old. If Mrs. Moore is still making these, she also has contacts in the CS community and would know if some "back room" jewelery is making a black market version.

Who would have thought we would ever have to look in such places for this?

I just had to say that I have agreed with so many things I have read from 3rd Gen. that it doesn't surprise me that she is a MOM and, when I checked out your "Personal Profile" a while back I was glad to see you were a TEACHER. I too have the ornament you were refering to and I am not lying when I tell you that when I pulled it out for Christmas 1999, it was broken--about 2/3 of the way up! It just broke my heart all over again! Anyway, thanks for your input. I am truly hoping that this last lead gets me somewhere, because the more I realize this is all so hush, hush....the more I want one. I DO remember!

Just picked mine up! After all of my FBI investigative hunt to find one, the lady I got it from lives about a mile from me. She said it was O.K. to post the info here so you guys could call her directly. It is the Coppell Aggie Moms Club and her name is Linda(972)393-7717. They have silver($25), brass & silver ($25) and gold (I think it's $50). They also had a tie tack/lapel pin, as well. It is of the stack itself with a block ATM on it. Thanks again for all the leads to get me here!

I just spoke with Linda - if you are in the DFW area you can pick the charms up at her house, otherwise mail a check + 8.25% tax and $3.50 shipping to her.

Here is a link to their website:

By the way - the 14k gold is actually $100.00

It looks like the tax is already included on the prices listed on their home page.

Just a comment it is not a conspiracy to not have Bonfire stuff sold places, they did not think it would be appropriate to see this stuff and have people make a profit off of a tragedy. That was the theory then, the situation has changed some now though.

Then why is it so hard to find bonfire products now?

I hope this catches on.

I've never understood why it was so hard to find bonfire remembrances, and I'm glad someone is still reproducing the charms.

Any hope that other groups follow suit?

from everything I have heard, the clubs were not ALLOWED to sell anything. I don't know if that was out of respect or otherwise. I have no information on that.I remember hearing someone say that there was a hiatus on anything bonfire...The lady who does the cakes still does that but I hardly think that applies to this b/c there is no licensing.

There is a really cute store in the 1960 area..Aggieland in Texas. I went there for a stocking stuffer and saw nothing bonfire related. I think they have a website too. A few of the clubs have them...

Tigger - I think I know which store you're talking about. Aggieland of Texas down near Willowbrook Mall?

I bought one of those wooden cutouts from them, but that was probably back in mid-2000 right after the university was discouraging people from selling Bonfire items.

http://www.aggielandoftexas.com/bldgbonfire.htm

Occasionally you can find stuff on ebay, too.

I talked to those guys at Aggieland before I found Linda and they don't have anything. And, just FYI, my impression was that Linda's organization was at this time NOT ordering any more charms once these sold out (unless TAMU changes its stance). So if you are interested, I would act now. I am getting 3 more tomorrow for friends who have requested a rememberance of 90 years of tradition!!

I had talked to a store that was selling the cutout stack above aobut a year ago. They said that the stack with flames was trademarked, so anything with that people could only sell what is already made. But with the cutout, they removed the flames and could continue to make and sell those, because it is not trademarked.

I am not sure what A&M's official stance is now, they may just be hoping everyone forgets. We should continue to show that there is demand for this stuff and that as students/alumni we demand to be able to buy Bonfire items.

Hey y'all I know I'm coming in a bit late, but is there any other information about getting a bonfire charm? I'm active in Student Bonfire and I would really like a charm even if the University doesn't support us. I tried calling the earlier number and the websites, but none of them worked out. The number may have just been called after hours. Please let me know.
