Wikipedia is the 8th most visited English site on the web and Aggie Bonfire will be the Featured Article of the Day on the 22nd of December.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aggie_Bonfire

Those of us working on the page would like some more pictures. The big catch is that they need to be pictures YOU took and they need to be released to be used at anyone's discretion. They will be posted under a creative commons 3.0 license and the photographer will be given credit (should they want it):

http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

As for getting them into the article, I'll be happy to do it for you.

LET'S SEE THOSE PICTURES!!!

What kind of pictures are you looking for? Then... the technical aspect (filesize, format, ect.)?

Exciting stuff. Can't wait to see it.

any kind of pictures. A picture of stack, cut, load, unload, people wielding axes, father-son cut, etc.

We'll take any format, but the larger the picture (more detail) the better!

I think your chart on the stages of construction is incorrect. I noticed that a couple of weeks ago, I was going to edit it but I'm not a good wiki-er. I don't remember exactly how long push lasted (I would have guessed more like 2 weeks but its been a long time) but it wasn't really 24/7 (except for most leadership). The early part of stack (pre-push) was when the stack shifts were 6-10 and 10-2. Then when push started the shifts went from 6-midnight and midnight-6. Then the last weekend before burn (or at least in 97 and 98 when there was a last weekend) you had Stackapalooza which was 24 hours of stack so the three shifts would be in a 6 hours on, 12 hours off cycle.

That's just the way that I remember things though.

NoAC - I saw that link you added on Wiki. A&M websites, however, publish 2:42 instead of2:30.

another guy wrote this:
I was a junior at A&M during this time, and was driving past the Polo Fields (bonfire site) on Texas avenue, which borders the North East edge of campus at approximately 2:35 AM on November 18th. Bonfire was, at that time, still standing, the lights were on and stack work appeared normal. I am unaware of any controversy over the time of the collapse, and while I was not present at the time it fell, the 2:42 time is consistent with my own eye witness accounts, as well as the time I started to hear emergency response (sirens could be heard at my apartment 1.2 miles from site at approximately 2:50 am.) For the most prevalent picture, please, for the sake of all Aggies, use a picture of Bonfire and not SB.

I know you all are gonna get all rabble rabble what we're doing ISSSS Bonfire. But the majority of the people who have ever gone to school at Texas A&M know what Bonfire looks like. Putting up a picture of ASB's fire could be insulting and is simply misleading.

I realize this.

They're mistaken. The "collapse time" they cite is when the police log BEGAN not the actual time of the collapse. No one I've talked to has any idea why they started using this time. The earliest articles mainly had the correct time.

He must have been driving past nearly immediately before. I found out in a chat room that had timestamps. It hit the room right at 2:40.

That's a big problem (though one hard to rectify) with wikipedia. If something is sourced but wrong and there are eyewitness accounts to the contrary it's the former that makes it into the articles.

The Batt itself (I still have a copy of the 11-18 Batt in my file cabinet) reported 2:30 that morning.

I concur, but the problem is that we can't find a picture of Bonfire that isn't copyrighted (they will allow some use of fair use images on the article, but absolutely not on the main page). As a related event (and quickly/unfortunately replacing our beloved Aggie Bonfire) Student Bonfire is the best picture available. Unless you know what to look for, the design is similar enough that it will suffice.

On top of that, we don't do the pictures. That is selected by a single individual and we have no control over it.
