If I worked for a company or was in an organization that quite literally had a comment box with a paper shredder underneath it, I think I would realize there are some serious problems with those driving the ship.

SB should be welcoming criticism, not shunning it.

critism is great just people need to stop hijacking threads intended for other things such as pictures and respect for dorms that have achieved something. This is the purpose of the thread. There is certainly a lot of sarcasm to it but it still stands.

The difference is that while you have people hearing your views, they are not the people that need to hear them nor have the power to do anything about it.

Really Slim? I beg to differ, and you should be pretty familiar with the fact that information on here does sometimes get to the people who need to know and make decisions. Remember this gem of your's back in April:

Indeed it did start the ball rolling on getting me off the board. The Reds/Board got calls directly and this prompted them to look into it.

The post itself did not get things rolling, it was people's reaction to the post. (the phone calls (Directly to leadership))


As for the point of my post about the smokers....

Does posting semi-anonymously on a website equal talking directly to the people that can do something about it... hardly. If you have questions and concerns, take them to the leadership (those folks that CAN do something about it)

So Slim, I'm confused, did the board hear about the comments you made here, or didn't they? How could the post not get the ball rolling if it was indeed the post that got the ball rolling?

That you wrote it only showed others your true thoughts, and unfortunately you were in an official position to represent bonfire, however ignorantly and destructively as you choose. That people read it and realized they don't want people around with such thoughts is what caused a change. So yes Slim, it was in fact your post that got the ball rolling. And it was you, not me, not anybody else, that got you the boot and the muzzle.

Criticism ought to be welcomed and viewed as an opportunity for growth, but like it's already been said, threads and thoughts like this really show what some people think as change. To Slim, for example, change is a threat.

I have a problem with bonfire screwing up my grades. Can I ***** about that problem here?

Bonfire didnt screw up your grades, you did by the choice you made. As did I and many others. But I am pretty sure there was a certain amount of sarcasm in that comment.

And as to my "mistreatment" of women, would you care to expand on that, or are you just going to make claims like that and leave them be? We have mutual friends.. A&M is a small place. And being that it is a small place your reputation can carry.

Saying what you said without supporting it in any way other than by saying that "we know mutual people" is pretty cowardly. I know people who know you too, but I'm not coming on the internet and claiming the things they've told me to be factual.

That's great that you would bend over backwards for your friends, but the fact of the matter, and where this all started, was how you viewed women as poor leaders. I do find it funny that that was no discussion or even a comment about Slim's comments. Instead of maybe seeing this as a problem that still exists in bonfire and discussing it, it just became an attack...par for the course though. So Jim says women are weak and poor leaders, is removed from the board for saying so, and then I'm a failure of a man who mistreats women! And this from a group of people where 0 know me. That is funny. Way to meet the issue head on.

This thread is pretty fitting and goes right along with the "unless you have other than great things to say about bonfire, you can shut the hell up" mentality.
