ay what you want about Fallon, but the "Barry Gibb Talk Show" bit might be the funniest sketch on that show in a long time. I think the South Boston guy is pretty funny as well.

regarding Rachel Dratch, how can you not think her and Mya Rudolph aren't funny when they do the high school news segment?

I'm with Kitchings in that I haven't watched for years, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Was Fallon a writer or stand-up comedian before he went to SNL? He obviously had ZERO work in improv as evidenced by his candor and countenance.

I remember it used to be funny when the players would laugh, because it was so rare. I think that's why the sketch with Phil Hartmann as Frankenstein is so funny, because he loses it. But he plays it off and destroys the set. The ones everyone remembers know how to keep a straight face.

If they made the cast and they sucked, then they were overrated.

I like John Lovitz. The time he was on celebrity jeopardy (admittedly not SNL) was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Trebek had to take an unscheduled commerical break because he was laughing so hard and couldn't regain composure.

I was watching "More Cowbell" last night, arguably one of the funniest SNL skits ever made, and one of my all-time favorites. Now a bit of cracking up is understandable, as funny as that skit was. Will Ferrell had to stifle a laugh at one point when he's talking about "doing every one of us a disservice if I don't perform THE HELL out of this cowbell". Problem is, Fallon laughs through the entire thing. He even had to turn away from the camera for a fair amount of time. I bet he didn't keep a straight face for 50% of the dialogue that went on.

Pathetic.

i may get lambasted for this one, but i'm gonna say it, cause it's true:

as much as i love the 'more cowbell' skit, it's WAYYYYY overrated. sure it's funny. it's just not that funny.

sure, it was ptobably the funniest thing on snl for at least 7-8 years,but off the top of my head there are at least a dozen or more skits that were a million times better.
