If you ever want to take a chance with your Netflix rentals, give the films of Atom Egoyan a try. If you like the intricate plotting of Tarantino, Egoyan puts him to shame.

One of my favorites is "The Sweet Hereafter". A perfect performance by Ian Holm, Bruce Greenwood, and Sarah Polley.

"Exotica" main local is a strip club, but the story is absoulutely incredible. Bruce Greenwood, Elias Koteas, and Mia Kershner star.

"Ararat" is about the Armenian genocide that is still debated today. A modern film crew sets out to make a film on the subject. Christopher Plummer gives one of the best performances I've seen in a while in this film. Also stars Elias Koteas, Bruce Greenwood, and Don McKellar.

"Where the Truth Lies" is a great riff of the Martin and Lewis era. Kevin Bacon should have been nominated for an Oscar, he is that good in it. Colin Firth is also quite good.

Give one of these films a shot one time.
