Absolutely enjoyed this movie, it moves fast, its got some great fight scenes, and explains a lot of backstory from the original film. Some cool suprises, and defiantly leaves you begging for more. I give it a 9 out of 10. If you liked the first Pirates, you'll defiantly enjoy this!! And also, you'll see sides of Captain Jack, and Elizabeth, that you have yet to see. Some new dimensions to the characters. But, don't worry Captain Jack lovers, he is still his same witty self. And Davey Jones and the Flying Dutchman is nuts. So again, see this film!

Good to hear. I really liked the first one, but I hadn't been impressed from the previews for this one. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I laughed when the EW reviewer admitted to trashing the first one and then proceeds to trash the second one. It has got to be good.

I heard they almost completely change Orlando Bloom's character as far as his personality. Is that true?

It's not that he is different, he is pretty much the same, it's just a continuation. I would say the people who show more of their different sides are Jack and Elizabeth.

i heard orlando bloom is kind of wooden like in the first one. but i'm not a very big fan of his besides his role in the lord of the rings. ex. he was way undersized for kingdom of heaven

Let me add a Warning: Parents, this movie is darker then the first one, and has some pretty scary moments in it, I wouldn't recommend children under 7, because of the times I've seen it parents have brought very small children and they made a ton of noise because of some parts, just my thoughts, just so you know.

Dead Man's Chest was entertaining, but it comes no where near topping the first one, IMO.

The first POTC is one of my favorite movies. I very rarely come across a movie that I complain about, but I've complaints twice: after superman, and now this.

While the plot does bascily continue from the first movie, this story wasn't near as captivating. If felt like they just tried to copy the first movie; the style is the exact same. You could almost have a list of scenes from each movie and match up their like equivalent.
I also think they tried to jump around too much with this one. Spliting the characters up so much was a bad idea. Will and Elizabeth should have initially escaped together.

The whole Jack/Elizabeth relationship came out of no where. I think it was a HUGE mistake to have Elizabeth start falling for Jack.

I want to see the movie again sometime, because I think I may enjoy it more on a second viewing, but this sequel didn't do it for me.

Why do you say she's not falling for Jack?
The compass kept pointing toward him as "what she desires most." It is obvious they were trying to create a love triangle, but I think it's stupid. I'm not sure if the compass was supposed to be pointing toward Eliabeth when Jack had it or not.

when did the compass point towards him? certainly not originally, and not on the island cause she was right above it. then the whole kiss thing was just so they could get away. and at the end she was upset like the rest of em cause jack was their friend

I enjoyed the movie a lot. I'm not sure if it was as good as the first, but I did like what I saw of this one, but I still feel like I haven't seen all of the movie. Which is my only problem with the movie. I'm left feeling like there was absolutely no resolution at all. To me they should have just had a (TO BE CONTINUED) on the screen at the end. I expected there to be something resolved in this one, and then they would start something new in part 3. Unfortunately, it looks like part 3 is just going to be what should have been the end of this movie. That was disappointing.

Whats after the credits? Just tell me cause I dont know if I'll see it again

All in all I agree with Roy... Decent flick, but far too long, lacking of a good storyline, and a lot of rehashed stuff.

And the fight on the wheel... For heaven's sake... It really wasn't that neat to begin with, and it certainly wasn't that neat half an hour later when it was still going.

She thought she was having feelings for him. She got frustrated at this when the compass was seemingly pointing at Jack. In reality it was pointing at the box because she was at that location. She kissed Jack to distract him while she saved everyone else. If she was in love with him, do you think she would have sacrificed him to the Kraken?

It pointed to him on more than one occasion.

perhaps it was because jack was the key to finding will. or maybe she's in love with jack's sense of adventure. but she's not in love with him

The compass pointed to Jack while they were on the boat, too.

And my wife disagrees, but I think she was ready to kiss him during her "someday you will do what is right because you want something more," speech. When he saw the mark come back on his hand she said "Thank you, Jack," b/c she was about to kiss him at that moment. It was a weird scene and I may have misread the vibe of it.

I think the point was she had feelings for him until she found out he sold-out Will, then she decided to sacrifice him to the Kraken.

I don't know if it is supposed to be 'love' or not, but she was deffinately having feelings toward Jack, and I think it was a mistake to do that. It totaly kills the slight romantic theme in the movie and turns it into drama.

I thought it was very very very average.

If you like action for the sake of action, you'll love it.

im trying to figure out why orlando bloom didnt get pissed. i mean i know there was a bigger problem at the time but come on he just hung out with her after id kick her to the curb. i just cant stand movies that try and set you up way too much for the sequel

Will was probably a little in shock and hopping there is an explanation. Granted Elizabeth did have a brief fight scene in the first movie, but why turn a woman as beautiful as Keira Knightly into a tomboyish character?

This was one of only two movies I've ever been disapointed about. It was still entertaining and I want to see it again, but I was let down.

The compass didn't swing towards Jack until Norrington said something along the lines of "Don't you want to know how your fiancee ended up on the flying dutchman in the first place?"


I took the compass swing to indicate that she first wanted to know what Jack had done with Will, thus she needed to talk to Jack.

The story is nice and ambiguous in that regard, there are many different ways to interpret everything.

I don't remember the exact timeline and situation of events without seeing the movie again, but it was pretty obvious that there were feelings between Jack and Elizabeth. There were several comments in the movie and several looks, plus the compass pointed at least 3 times. Ask your gf's or wives what they thought, but it seemed pretty obvious to me.

I am agreement with you about Dead Man's Chest and Superman Returns. I thought they were both average. I would say worth seeing, but I won't buy the DVD for Superman Returns or Dead Man's Chest.

I own the first Pirates of the Carribean and also Superman I & II. I loved those films. There is no doubt about it that the special effects and CG in movies now is amazing, but it is important to also maintain a great story in the midst of all that.

Again, I'm not one of those people that comes out and says "worst movie ever" - just thought the two films could have been better.
