there are doing a new Doctor Who on friday nights starting this weekend. Anybody heard anything about it? I assume these have already been show in England in the last year or so.

Absolutely. They started remaking the show about a year and a half ago. A friend of mine has another friend who had a cousin in England copy them onto DVD and ship them over. I've watched several and they're good.

It's a little different from the old series. You don't have the short episodes with cliffhangers, but a standard hour-long show. That prevents them from developing the story line as much, but overall, they've done a good job.

The guy who plays the doctor, unfortunately, only made it about a year and left the show, so they've got a newer guy on the episodes they're showing now. I guess that would make him the 9th Doctor, assuming you don't count the guy from the aborted 1996 U.S. T.V. bomb.

So are we going to see a year of the 8th doctor or will this Friday start with the 9th one?

O.K. I checked the website. They do include the American show, so the guy who starts out the new series is the 9th doctor.

I was never really a big fan of Doctor Who. My old roommate used to watch the old ones all the time and I just thought it was so cheesy. So, when I heard about this latest version, I was leery, but figured I'd give it a chance as I didn't have anything else to watch on Friday nights at 9. Well, I was pleasantly surprised, it's really good. Season 1 just ended and I can't wait until October for season 2. It'll be interesting to see how season 2 is with the new Doctor. Anyways, I'd forgotten about this thread and was just watching a mini marathon on scifi. Did anyone else catch on to the show?

Count me as being geeked to the show.... I have been watching the new series since the beginning.

Incidently, through the grapevine, not that many people like the new doctor as much as the one that left after this past season.

That said, the Stargates shows and Dr. Who make a much better Friday lineup. I guess you could put on BG afterwards.

The Second season of Dr. who is already on its 10th show in the UK, I have been downloading them.


I actually like the the new Doctor better. He is younger than the last one which meshes better with rose. I didn't realize this until somebody told me but the new Doctor was Barty Crouch Jr. from Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire.


Oh and if anyone doesn't know they are going to do a Spin off called Torchwood that will have the Captain guy as the main star ( the one that died and then came back at the end) but the spinoff has come out yet.

I read where Rose is leaving the show after the 2nd season, which is a shame cause I really like her.

I'm sure everyone realized this, but Torchwood is an anagram for Doctor Who.

I couldn't wait until October, so I've been downloading and watching season 2. Wasn't sure how the new Doctor would be, but he's great. The show hasn't missed a beat and dare I say I like him better than Eccleston(who I thought was great). I'm about halfway through season 2 and I'm still enjoying the hell out of this show. It really is a fantastic show.

For those of you who missed out on season 1, the DVD came out today in the States.

All caught up now on series 2. Just waiting for the finale on Saturday to pop up so I can download it.

The Doctor's new assistant for next series is:



Freema Agyeman. I'll miss Billie Piper as Rose, I thought she was great. I'm sure this new girl will be just fine. I was hesistant about changing Doctors, but it has worked out quite well.

The final episode just aired in the UK tonight and I'm downloading it now. Girl In The Fireplace was a really good episode. It remained my favorite until part 1 of the season finale. I liked the new Doctor right away. The Christmas Invasion, which aired in between seasons, Tennant was wonderful in that special and didn't miss a beat. By the end, I was ok with missing Eccleston.

I just don't like that the new companion was playing a different character on the next to last episode and then DIED. Just seems weird that they would do that and then bring her back as a different character to be the next companion. Seems fishy

Yeah, but I have faith in the show. They must've liked what they saw of her in that episode, though she really didn't do much. I'm about to watch the finale now, I'll miss Rose.

I hadn't heard that rumor. That could be interesting. As much as I liked her, I hope it's not for a while, as I really enjoy Tennant as the Doctor.

The finale was really good. Some nice twists in there and I'm glad that what we thought might happen didn't happen(you'll know what I mean, as I'm trying not to spoil anything here). Only 170 days until the Christmas special. Can't wait for that or season 3 next spring, with the new assistant.
