Anyone know if they will be making a movie from this book.....? I thought it was a good read!

Tanya, who do you think should play the characters? I had a couple of thoughts:

Nathan - Mel Gibson
Leah - Dakota Fanning

Last year I added the novel to my AP classes (generated many thoughtful discussions) and, too late, thought about showing clips from Harrison Ford's The Mosquito Coast, which is similar in plot to PB.

I sigh as yet another book on my AP list will now have a movie made about it. Then again, I like catching students who depend on movies rather than read the books...

I added it a few years ago, after much ribbing from kids for making them read an "Oprah" book. Most of them have really enjoyed it, including my male students, which is rare.

How does this stack up with The Bean Trees and Pigs In Heaven? These were required for my AP Lit/Comp class 6 years ago, and remain on my favorites list.
