Freakin hilarious. pretty close to the 0rigional but some parts are a little different. Billy Bob Thornton is great as buttermaker/boilermaker. anyone else seen it, what you think.

going to pull the original DVD out right now. Buttermaker is the only thing I remember.
Just don't see how this can be as good as the original...seems like the kids woud have to be more PC, at least with the name calling...

I liked the movie but it was more watered down than the first. A few examples:

-Kelly Lee doesn't smoke.
-Buttermaker hands out non-alcoholic beer at the end of the movie.
I'm sure I'm biased because I remember watching the original as a kid, but the first one is better and Mathow plays the role better than Thornton.

such a funny movie, i loved it
I didn't think it was anywhere near as funny as the original, but I also didn't think it was going to be. It wasn't bad, as remakes go. Definitely watered down, but I guess they didn't want to risk offending anyone. A shame, really. It had potential to be VERY funny coming from the writers of Bad Santa.

You know it. It's the first movie I remember seeing in the movie theatre, at the age of 4.
Funny story, Jackie Earl Haley is in a band in SA, or was. A couple of years ago, before they came on, a friend of mine started a "Let them play chant." He came out and said, "You guys are so original." He didn't care for it too much. I then called him "Shorty" and he punched a time clock. Just kidding.
The theater I was in was packed with little kids. There was a Birthday party for some 6/7 year olds. Aparently some parents never saw the origional. I don't have kids, I didn't care. It was great, I love Billy Bob.
this is one movie that they should have just left alone.

One other thing that slightly hacked me off, I guess it's okay for a black kid to racially insult a white kid, but not the other way around. As posted earlier, Tanner's line was not in this version, but Ahmad (or whatever the name is) clearly calls a kid from the Yankees a cracker towards the end.

I didn't say I was offended, just "slightly hacked" that the racism only went one way. I'm all for equal oppurtunity offending.

Right. I say in a movie like this racially insult everybody or nobody. But that's just me. Not a big deal.
thats part of the reason I really don't want to see the new one. just don't see how it can even come close to the other one.

Finally saw it. Average at best, basically a waaaay watered down Bad Santa (which I also didn't like). Billy Bob keeps drawing me in, but I usually leave disappointed.
