I was talking with a friend at lunch about the "New Rat Pack" (Owen & Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn). We were trying to figure out when they began starring in movies together. My friend said "Old School" but I think thats just when they got popular. I said it was in "Zoolander" which came out in Sept. 2001 followed by "The Royal Tenenbaums" in Dec. Can anyone think of an earlier occurance of a New Rat Pack movie?



P.S. I am not counting "Bottle Rocket" since it only has the Wilson Brothers.

Cable Guy had Owen and Ben Stiller. Can't really think of any earlier than that.

I gotta say Ron Livingston deserves a nod, too. Not sure about Jack Black though, he's not really in the same mold as the rest of them.

Ron Livingston was in Swingers with Vince Vaughn. Other than that he has not been in any other movies with any one else from the "Frat Pack". (I agree that he was funny in Office Space and Adaptation, but that is unrelated to the topic.)

I included Jack Black since I remember hearing that he is close with members in that group. Also Ben Stiller makes a cameo in a Tenacious D video.

I forgot earlier about Meet the Parents (Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson). But Cable Guy still predates Meet the Parents.
