Unbelievable. The best or tied for it. Not the wit that 5 had, but more action. And gutwrenching. Emotional.

Back to my parent's basement now, I have to catch up on my Doom 3.

It was a great movie.

were you being sarcastic about living in your parents basement, playing doom, and being a giant star wars fan?

My wife and I are going to see it tonight. We wanted to go last night, but have a kiddo and it was a work night. My assistant principal saw it last night and said I really needed to go...it was great. I liked the first two movies (clones better than phantom), but didn't rave about them. From what I've read and seen this one is going to be greatness.

It was a great movie. Perhaps the best in the series.

Just got back. It was awesome, and no, not really for the kids. But, I think an 8 to 9 year old can handle it. Best in the series.

Maybe I was just expecting too much from the finale, but for the most part up until the final battles I was fairly un-impressed...The dialog was murder in my opinion, and Padme gives birth to the twins and just loses the will to live??? HUGE fan by the way of the series, just did not enjoy this one as much as I had hoped

umm, go back and rewatch the original episodes IV-VI....and you'll see that bad dialogue is commonplace in these movies and it being in this movie should have come as no surprise. writing is not the strongsuit of any Star Wars movie.

as for the movie itself, I enjoyed it a great deal, and it was just about exactly what I'd hoped to see as far as answering any and all loose ends setting up the next three movies starting with A New Hope.

Agree with Orlando, no one should ever come into any Star Wars movie and expect great acting.

Great picture.

This should spawn a reprise of the Storm Trooper going to Walmart thread. Am still laughing.

Here's my deal with the acting....It's almost at points like they weren't even trying to show any emotion or anything...Maybe it was just me...And one good thing that comes out of this, no more battle droids!(those things with their nasal "roger" voices annoy the heck outta me)

Outstanding movie. I rank it above all the others except possibly Empire (the whole 'Luke, I'm your father' bombshell is hard to top).

I knew going into it that it would be dark, but wow, it was really depressing at times (as it was supposed to be).

Yes, the acting is not very good, but hey, it's Star Wars. Bad acting and poor lines are part of the experience.

Got a question allthough I plan on seeing it a few more times. I asked this over on general board, but thought I may get a quicker response here. If you havne't seen the movie, this is a small spoiler.

When Obi-wan cut Anakin/Vader's legs off did he also get his left arm or did it burn off? I always thought he had his left arm.

He cut off his left arm as well as both his legs at the knees.

Did not watch any of the clone wars shorts, supposedly it clears up where the generals cough comes from...anybody want to shed some light on the coughing for me?

Have not seen the animated stuff either, but I did have someone tell me that Grievous was a General that was at some point very badly injured, nearly killed. They basically took his organs and placed them in a "Super-droid" body, thus some of his organ problems remain. Not a very thorough explanation, but the best I can do now. I want to find out the whole story behind him as well.

From the Clone Wars cartoon.....right as Grievous is taking Palpatine away, one of the Jedi chasing him uses a kind of "Force crush" on his chest, compacting his chestplate and causing Grievous some serious pain.

BTW, the Clone Wars cartoon ends minutes before the movie picks up. It shows the initial surprise assault on Coruscant and Yoda kicking some major ass.

an excellent flick. not the "OMG" factor of the original in 1977, but, IMO, pound for pound the best film of all the episodes.

Why not try to turn the "younglings" to the Dark Side instead of wiping them out?

Saw it this afternoon. Easily the best of the 3 prequels and the darkest of the 6. I would probably put it as the 2nd or 3rd best; V being the greatest, of course.

There are some disturbing scenes, but they were necessary.

The great lament for me is that I just wish Lucas would have collaborated with others on the dialogue. The creation of his own world and great epic of redemption will always get bogged down in my mind for his absolute horrific lack of talent in constructing dialogue. I love the movies, just think it could've been so much better.

On another note, does anybody think it's possible that Lucas redoes all the CGI stuff for IV-VI? I know they've done touching up in the past, but I mean a complete overhaul of all the scenes like the battles and explosions and such where you don't see any actors anyway.

I just watched Ep IV and V again yesterday. I thought the explosions in those could be redone. They had a funny look and sound to them. But as far as GL doing any revamping with CGI...who knows. He's already stated that he will re-release the entire six episode saga in glorious 3D starting in 2007...so there may be some touching up.

But I thought you had to film the movie in 3D in order to show it in 3D....anyone know?

And why did he choose 3D? Does anyone even like or watch 3D movies anyway? Is there really a demand for it? Are you going to have to wear the glasses?

I feel a little weird replying to this post (still trying to hide my inner-nerd).
BUT... I would have to say that Empire is still the best movie in the series. AND... the original trilogy is still better than the prequels -- due in part to a fact that some of you have pointed out: dialogue.
Sure, Ep IV-VI did not have great lines --> but the addition of Harrison Ford's impromptu lines makes the difference. I don't think they had anyone in Ep I-III that had his ability to make up funny, witty lines that really developed the characters.

Didn't Yoda allude to that in Episode I? I had forgotten about that...
