Just rented & watched this last night. Not sure if I liked it or not. Adam Sandler in a not-idiot role? Never liked him as an idiot.

Although Cloris Leachman was a hoot!

I will tell you which Sandler movie I hated, it was called "Punch Drunk Love." It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Boring.

Spanglish sucked, but I liked Punch Drunk Love. Although I usually like odd movies. Spanglish put me to sleep.

This is one of those movies that I went to see because everyone was saying how incredible it was. My gf and I didn't get it. I enjoyed seeing Sandler in a different type of roll again, but felt the ending was a complete let down. In fact, I plain out hated the ending. Ruined the movie for me.

Spanglish was awful.

Punch-Crunk Love was very good.

spanglish was a great movie. cloris leachman, tea leoni, and adam sandler were all awesome in the movie. i liked the movie for the ending personally. its not just about the typical happy ending and deals with a very interesting subject of adultery and doing what is right for your kids/family. yah tea's character screwed up and cheated on adam sandler, but he made the difficult decision to not persue anything with paz's character even though they really cared for each other.

I enjoyed Spanglish.

I liked it. The wife really like it.

We tried to watch Punch Drunk about 10 different times and never got it. Absolutely horrible.

Agree with La Fours 100%. It wasn't a great movie, but it has some great lines by Leachman, Paz was nice eye candy and the ending was substantive & strong. I have to respect a movie that adds the extra depth at the end of the lead character choosing his kids and his family over instant gratification for the character and the audience.

So I know it's an old movie but I had not seen it up till last year. Since then, as it's been on Starz, I've watched it like 3 or 4 times while it's on when working from home.

I find it to be very watchable, I think because I can relate to several characters with people I know. I mostly enjoy the entire movie and the fact that Adam's character chooses to stay with his wife really doesn't bother me as it does some. What absolutely kills the movie ending for me is the mom's decision to take her daughter out of the school and not pursue the scholarship because she doesn't want her daughter to become fully assimilated and to lose her culture. The mom was made out to be a virtuous character because she made made sure her daughter would be "like her".

I'm sorry but that just seems insanely selfish and close minded. Imagine if it were a white american woman living with her daughter in a foreign culture like Africa or India and out of fear of her daughter assimilating to the African or Indian culture completely and not being more "American" she pulls her daughter out of school there where she has been given an opportunity to go to a great college for free. That movie would be labeled racist or culturalist, as it should be.

Sorry but I had to vent.

That wasn't worth the bump.

Reign Over Me and Click are better movies than Spanglish.

He's good in Spanglish, just the movie overall doesn't carry as well as these other 2 serious role movies for him in my opinion.
