I agree, Mr. Hat. It was entertaining enough, but it seemed like the book was probably way too long to be made into a two hour movie. Too many short, choppy scenes and, like you said, no development. The war scene where his SPOILER best friend died was a joke. About a 30 second cut of what should be an incredibly dramatic life-changing event. It just seemed like they crammed way too much into it, which kept it from being a meaningful, developed story.
