How long do you want to ignore this user?
Decided to watch it to see what all the fuss was about.

Great movie. Would recommend it to anyone.

didn't care for it much. i thought the plot was good (i'm sure the book was great), but the movie seemed like it was geared towards a high school aged audience. everything was very flat and one dimensional...characters, writing, etc. it just felt like nothing was developed...just threw a bunch of tear jerker material out there...cheap writing. BUT, i'm not so sure that it was ever meant to be anything more than that.

I agree, Mr. Hat. It was entertaining enough, but it seemed like the book was probably way too long to be made into a two hour movie. Too many short, choppy scenes and, like you said, no development. The war scene where his SPOILER best friend died was a joke. About a 30 second cut of what should be an incredibly dramatic life-changing event. It just seemed like they crammed way too much into it, which kept it from being a meaningful, developed story.
