So what happened all of a sudden. I really liked that station but I don't get a chance to listen to it frequently. They all of a sudden have a morning show and now they play Lovelines at night??? What's happening??? Did they change ownership or something? Anyone know?

It definitely went down the crapper.

If I'm listening to FM, it's 99.5 or 94.5 out of Houston now. Don't know what happened with 103.9.

Yeah, I sometimes get 94.5 in College Station but around the campus it all goes to static.

Hey, I don't mind Loveline, Adam Carolla cracks me up. I used to listen to them on 101X in Austin and the old Eagle 97 in Dallas.

its airheads all over again. 103.9 was one of the best stations inbetween Dallas and Houston a few years ago: the Eagle (Dallas) and ZRock (Austin) had their days of brilliance but have both passed from us. It seems 103.9 and KLOL are just recent casualties of FM radio turning into mindless shi'ite.

I agree...used to be able to hear some more music on 103.9 in the morning and I hate the loveline stuff. I just want my music. 103.9X was all I would listen to back home in north Austin instead of 101X but I guess good things just don't last.

The music selection during the afternoon (the only time i listen) is a lot better than all the emo and punk garbage they'd been playing recently. There's some Pantera, Metallica, and grunge stuff mixed in with their "alternative" stuff and I like it a lot better. However, they're playing a lot of skits and Loveline according to you guys, and that stuff really gets on my nerves. Just play the music.

103.9 was okay back in the 95 - 97 timeframe but has always been a little off. Most radio these days has gone down the crapper.

kanm 1690 AM, different stuff all throughout the day. even you could be a DJ.

does clear channel own them too?

anyway, the best radio to listen to in the morning (in College Station) is 1150 AM.

This sucks. I heard "You Shook Me All Night Long" today on The X. Of course there's always the mandatory playing of "Enter Sandman". Jeez!!! Even the hardcore headbangers will agree that black album Metallica is horrible. Now, I'm not denying that I own a copy of it, but if I wanted to hear it, I'd pull out my CD.

I've felt for years that I could always turn to the X for new music. You know what NEW music I heard today on 103.9? Ozzy singing "Mississippi Queen". IT'S TERRIBLE!!! What happened to this station, and why is there now a need to mix hair metal and alt rock? I figured 99.5 already played enough kock-rock as is. Why is 103.9 now playing friggin' Queensryche?!? Queensrhyche?!? Come on!!!!!

Clear Channel doesn't own 103.9 They've got the Fox, 104.7, and Aggie 96.

103.9 has turned into what 92.1 was. As for hearing new music, I think we're all better off not hearing it. In the future, you'll look back and agree.

They've had the same format for the past 7 years, that I can remember (and maybe more), and it's been just fine with me. So, the future is now, according to what I recall from the past, and I can look back and say that I've always enjoyed 103.9 as a source of new music.

Here's what really led to the change (so sayeth AggieTJ): In the B/CS area, you used to be able to pick up KLOL 101.1 from Houston if you needed your kock-rock fix. Clear Channel and their genius wisdom changed the format and left a hole for a Houston-area rock station. Enter 97.5; but in the B/CS area, you can't pick it up usually, due to interference from Waco's 97.5. So, a market for kock-rock exists in B/CS (though it didn't seem to last for 92.1).

Add to that how 103.9 now considers itself a "north Austin" station as well, and I guess we're all f***ed. What happened to KEEP COLLEGE STATION NORMAL, and not like Austin?!?

It's all Eli's fault. He's the one that started playing all that damn hair-metal in the first place. So I wonder, as I start my day, will today be the day that I hear "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" on the 103.9?!?
