Who cares about Star Wars when The Hitchhikers Guide

I'm wondering if they can pull this off. I have no doubt it'll be good just because... But just as good as the books? That'll be the question.
Sadly, I'm more optimistic about Revenge of the Sith, mainly because the creator of the vision (Lucas) has remained an integral part of the production process throughout. Adams died years ago.

Adams wrote the script, and also had many ideas listed for changes. Just like every time, the movie will be slightly different from all the other versions, I am confident it will remain true to the humor we expect.
Has anyone read his non-fiction? I heard he has a good book titled something like "Last chance to see" about species going extinct based his travels with biologists.
PS- so far I have only read the Hitchhikers series & the holistic detective series.
But Revenge of the Sith is going to have Wookies!

Last Chance To See is a great book.
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy started as a radio serial on BBC before the book came out and it was the radio scripts that were turned into the first book. There was also a TV series done in the '80's, but I haven't seen it.

Last Chance to See is a very good book. I continue to relay his anecdotes about komodo dragons from that book 10 years after reading it (not as geeky as it sounds).
Hitchikers Guide could be tough humor to capture on film. I'll see it, but I'll be surprised if they pull it off. Great books though with wide appeal. I had a relative recently released from prison (DUI) & he was quick to tell me that when leaving he "didn't forget his towel".

did anyone see the original hitchhiker's guide movie...really old, pruduced in gb (i think)...really stunk. have high expectations for this one though!
The BBC series (covers HHGTTG and RATEOTU) is available on DVD, with many extra features. I highly recommend it. The special effects (notably Zaphod's 2nd head and the Vogon makeup) are pretty bad, but the Guide graphics more than make up for some of the cheesiness.
My wife is due on May 6th. Hitchhikers comes out on May 6th. I've been waiting for Ana to show up for about 8 months now but I've been waiting to see Hitchhikers for about 20 years. Tough decision ahead of me.
