I'm curious which age group is most into the conclusion of the Star Wars saga right now. I'm 34, and I'm so pumped I can barely wait until EpIII. I have a strong emotional and nostalgic attachment to the original trilogy (OT) as I was 7 years old when it came out and the toys/special effects/creatures really captured the imagination of a child; however, at that time, I wasn't into the mysticism/good vs. evil/oedipal aspects of the OT that perhaps the older viewers could appreciate. I think there is less of a dichotomy now (i.e the cool toys and colorful creatures for the kids and the storyline for the adults) with the prequel trilogy (PT) than with the OT.

I was wondering if those of you who were perhaps in their 20's or 30's when the OT came out feel different about this EpIII than viewers of my age, or even if current college students born well after the OT was completed have any anticipation at all for EpIII.

I would hope the 7-12 age group would be most into it.

There's definitely a lot of interest among the 25-30 crowd.

I would say people who were either in the 15-mid 20s range when the originals came out, or the kids of those people who are now in the same age range

The problem with the Star Wars is that it's always been geared to children.

When we say 4-6, we were kids.
As adults, watching 1-3, they're not geared to us, they're geared to their kids.

That being said, I'm taking my 9 year old opening weekend.

The Star Wars movies may be geared toward kids, but there are themes present in the series that resonate with everyone. The good vs evil issue is obviously most prominent.

I was 10 when Episode IV came out, so this is something that's been with me most of my life. I've looked forward to this movie for a long time, probably for longer than the wait between VI and I because I inherently understood what would likely be happening in this episode.

Can't wait!

Things are different between generations. When we were kids watching Star Wars, the primary audience was kids. Adults were watching whatever Robert Redford or Godfather movie was in the theaters.

Now that we've grown up with the series, we've decided as a generation to say "**** it! I don't care if it has homosexual golden robots, light sabers, cheesy dialogue, and Jar Jar Binks. I like it, and I'm gonna watch it!"

The same applies to cartoons and comic books. When we were 7, how many people over 25 watched cartoons or read comics? Not one single person in America thanks to the disco craze and the sexual revolution! Now, how many threads have we seen on this board about Simpsons, Family Guy, Southpark, etc?
