Everybody's so stuck on airplay and sales. If that were the critera, you'd have to put Duran Duran for all the hits they had in the 80's.

"When was the last new Rush song you heard on the radio"...dummy. Radio hasn't been good for almost 15 years. And don't think it's just some "old guy" talking. I was at the Queens of the Stone Age concert Tuesday. Heck, those guys would tell you radio hasn't been good for years too.

Screw Rush, Sabbath, Skynyrd, Van Halen, etc.; at least the Bee Gees are in the "rock and roll" HoF.

I think Duran Duran SHOULD be in ahead of Rush.

Rush sucks.

I don't like either band, but at least Rush were great musicians. I'd probably be a big Rush fan if they had ever hired a real singer.

U2 is just bland, boring, pop-rock. There's nothing outstanding about them. They don't have standout musicianship, songwriting, or singing. Totally lukewarm, middle of the road music.

That being said, both bands deserve to be in the RR Hall of Fame.

Buck- You can't be serious. Like them or don't like them, U2 has written some amazing songs.

U2 is one of the top 5 bands of all time. Perhaps someone should dredge that thread up for the benefit of rock and rock education.

I think the reason why RUSH is not in the Hall of Fame is the reason that they were not really big on publicity. Not like U2. Though, i like U2 they are a great band, but you will never see RUSH do an ipod commercial. Rush has always kept their lives very personal, and i dont think the entertainment business has ever appreciated that. But as RUSH will tell you i think it is important for them to get elected, but it will not crush them if they didnt get elected. They play music for themselves, and their fans and if nobody likes it, then so what? their still making music they like to play. Now for their musicianship there is probabaly no other band thats works harder than them to make it perfect, and by their standards its never perfect. If you dont like Rush, go to one of their concerts, and you will see why should be elected. If not go watch your MTV and jam out to your simple plan cd

Not a musician are you? The Edge is one of the most innovative guitarists around. I'd put him second only to Morrelo (sp?)

NoAC, innovative but far from "great"...He would even admit that.

We can argue all day about the best guitarists of all time or current time (there is a thread about that too).

The Edge may not be in the top 20 of either category. But there is no way he is not an excellent, innovative lead guitar. To claim otherwise is to let U2 hate/snobbery (ooooh nooooo, they are popular!) blind you to reality.
