I assume you already have tickets since it's sold out.

I am a big Keen fan...but an even bigger Fred Eaglesmith fan. You are in for a helluva good show with those two.

I went to Gruene last weekend for the first time in a very long time. Saw Reckless Kelly. Good concert, good crowd, but not too crowded.

All that being said, there are about a hundred other places that I'd rather see a concert than Gruene.

Bob, I agree it's not the best as far as crowds and sight lines and such, but it's still going to be a great road trip.

Yea, we already have our tickets, and I agree on Eaglesmith.

my favorite live venue is floores country store in helotes just outside SA. that said, gruene hall can be pretty electric.

i should be going to the roger creager concert next weekend.

jim,

It was sold out, but I didn't really think it was all that packed. I had no problems getting around. We were standing in front of the sound board, and could see just fine.

As for the show, Fred Eaglesmith and his band were excellent. Very engergetic...very tight...I would definitely recommend seeing them again.

REK was ok...but...really not great. He just seems like he's going through the motions at times, which I guess is understandable when you play "Merry Christmas..." for the 200th straight show. I wish he would cut some of his standards from his show, and freshen up his songlist.

On a side, be sure and plan on eating at the Gristmill if you go to Gruene. Their bacon wrapped Filet is great.

Here's a pic I took of REK. Sorry for the poor quality, but it was taken with a disposable camera.

Gruene Hall is pretty small.... But I still would prefer any indoor venue to an outdoor one just for acoustics sake.

I had the same thoughts when I saw him in FW last December.
