That Rocky II thread got me thinking...I was like 3 so I don't know any of this but...was the fact that he lost the title fight well known before seeing the movie? Did it stay a secret for a while or was it given away a.k.a "The crying game incident". Also, what did you think of the movie when you left? Wow! or Crap, he lost!

I was in HS when it came out. My wife and I saw it in the theater. I didn't hear any spoilers about the outcome other than it was a good movie.

The fact that he lost the title fight wasn't a big deal since his goal was to go the distance. In that respect, he won.

I saw Rocky for the first time in the theatre at Rudder. As a poor student, it was the only way to afford the movies

Personally, I did not know the outcome. From the sound of it, though, I think almost everyone else did. As the movie started with the large R O C K Y scrolling across the screen, the whoops were very loud. I left the movie thinking "wow, what a great movie." I had never heard of Stallone and thought I was going to go watch a boring boxing B movie.

i didn't see it in the theater (i was only 2 when it came out) but i do remember being confused about whether he won or lost when i finally saw it - i was probably 6 or 7 years old. i wasn't sure since the announcement was just in the background, and secondary to him finding adrian. Rocky 3 was the first one i saw in the theater.

I know, but if I didn't, someone would have griped about how I ruined the movie for them. Just playing it safe!

Rocky 3, 4, and 5 aren't very good movies.

I pity the foo that don't like Rocky III.

1 was excellent. 2-4 were okay. 5 should be avoided at all costs.

So was Sylvester Stallone ever successful in getting some studio to fork over $$$ to make Rocky 6? I remember reading several months ago that he was trying pretty damn hard with no success.

In that picture, Clubber Lang looks like he was dipped in the ectoplasm they used in Ghostbusters.

Stallone publishes a health magazine where he's printing snippets of his Rocky 6 script. It sounds pretty stupid.

I liked the first two, 3 was ok except the last fight was abreviated compared to the first two. The fourth was fun in a cheesy way. yeah, 5 was horrible.

I agree. The first one was great, then they got worse as the sequels came out.

Rocky 4 didn't seem quite as cheesy at the time when the cold war was still on and I was only 12 years old. It gets bonus points for cool training scenes, and I thought the fight at the end was the best of all of the sequels.

Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War while Clubber Lang kept his woman busy.

I pity the foo that don't know that.

I look at Rocky I and II as one long film - there is a lot of continuity between the two. They should have stopped there, but of course Hollwood doesn't have any discipline.

I know some people that swear II is better than I.

i heard that if a Rocky 6 is made, Stallone has actually written it as if Rocky 5 never happened.
