Gotta love Best Buy - very good prices on the brand new BLS and Priest albums. The new Priest album comes with a 45 minute DVD from the last tour. Both albums are very typical of their respective bands - no big stylistic surprises (but that's a good thing). I recommend both.

I'll check them out on itunes. $9.99 for the whole album or 0.99 / song.

The Priest CD sounds a lot like Painkiller. There are some old-school JP riffs in there too though.

I've had a hard time getting the CD to play in my car though. It has the CD on one side and the DVD on the other. I wonder if they pressed a version with separate CD/DVD's?

Is both the new album and the DVD it comes with recorded with Rob Halford?

Ragnar The Pirate: You got the Dualdisc format, didn't you? It says in fine print on the dualdisc that it may not work in all CD players. That's why I got the two-disc version instead - the CD works in all CD players.

SPO_Rat_91: Yes, Rob on both. The DVD is a bunch of behind the scenes stuff and interviews from the reunion tour last year, along with about 7 live performances from a tour stop in Valencia.

I assume Best Buy had both versions? I went to Hastings and they had a shelf of them, but there was no difference in what they had.

I'll have to try to get the 2 disc version. Its BS not being able to play it all the way through in the car.

A new Six Feet Under CD is coming out soon as well. Since rock is dead in america, I had to have Germans tell me about it .. but Im certainly looking foward to it.

And hey Buck .. Im now goin to 2 festivals in Germany. I get to see Maiden, Slayer, and Crue at one .. should be rad.

Ive been adopted by some Germans and they have gone old school german on me and have decided that it is their job while Im visiting their country to show me the best time that I will ever have

I don't think it's dead yet, but it could be alot healthier. I am cautiously optimistic about the comeback of rock in America. Once new metal bands stop dry heaving and actually sing again, then I'll know we're really back.

Hatebreed is a good new "metal" band, though the kids call them "hardcore" I guess.

Most of the new metal bands I listen to are from Norway, Denmark, Sweden or Finland.

The vikings have their stuff together.

I think it might actualy stay in the charts for a while. I've always rated an album based on how many songs get stuck in my head after 3-4 listenings. I had JP's AofR in the car all weekend and I must recommend it to anyone starving for metal. Especially if you're like me and can't stand the new style of vocalists who sound like they're trying to hawk up a fur-ball.

Rob Halford is at his best. Check out "Judas is Rising" and "Deal with the Devil". Those are my two early favorites....

have they played the singles off the two albums on 97.5 in houston yet? i know BLS has "suicide messiah" as their new single and i haven't heard any or know of a new JP song

I haven't heard either song on 97.5. That's what makes 97.5 inferior to 101. Unfortunately, it's all we have unless you get XM or Sirius.
