Adrien: "There is one thing you can do for me..." Rocky:"Oh yeah, anything, you's just gotta let me know" Adrien:"win" Rocky:"What?!" Adrien:"WIN!" Mickey:"Then what are we waitin' for?!!" Cue the music... Classic!
Speaking of realistic, it's amazing the amount of endurance all of the characters in the Rocky series have. I mean, to sit there and take direct shots to the head with every other punch and not go down until the last round is simply amazing. It's incredible that they're in such good shape, that there is no need to block punches coming at them.
That's the point of the Rocky character, which we all know that some measure of "suspension of disbelief" is required. The character is supposed to not only have an incredible heart, he is supposed to have an iron jaw.
Granted, some of this seems a little corny these days (although I did catch myself watching Rocky II last night). But nobody can deny that the Rocky movies struck a chord with the American movie goer.
I watched a few minutes last night, and it always cracks me up. I only watched long enough to see the scene where they are buying the house. Some classic Rocky comments in just a few minutes:
"Look at these bricks Adrian. Are these bricks new? These are nice bricks. And look at this mailbox. Really nice."
He says he wants to buy it and Adrian responds that they haven't even looked upstairs yet: "It's just details."
And after they tell the realtor they want it, Rocky tells him "And it better not leak or else."
After he puts a spiked dog collar on as a bracelet, "Now that's what I call class."
[Rocky and Mickey are watching the film of the first fight] Mickey: Left handed fighters they're the worst. They try to come in there with that big left. Right's no damn good. They ought to outlaw southpaws! Rocky Balboa: Why didn't you tell me that before? Mickey: I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
I couldn't get past the fact that through 10 rounds they were still fighting like they were flyweights in the 1st round either. Artistic freedom...gimme a break. That movie looks more cheesy as the years go by.
But kudos to Carl Whethers for a great scene at the press conference. A legitimate actor...who by the way can absolutly look and swing like a fighter. Love to see a reunion show of these two on TV...talk about all of it.
