How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone listen to them? I just received the "Tessie" single in the mail yesterday. Outside of this, I have never heard any of their stuff. Anyone have any recommendations?

"tessie" is pretty weak in my opinion. something they did to cash in on the red sox success last fall. i would recommend "do or die". they got a new singer after that album, and i don't like him as much. super fun band to see live.

Don't know about cashing in...the proceeds from the CD I bought are said to go to the Red Sox Foundation or the Jimy Fund. Not sure which. that being said, "Tessie" has turned me on to the band, so i guess the supposed ploy worked. Besides, it is a fun song with a little history in it about the organization. Thanks for the advice on "Do or Die" though.

i suppose cashing in is the wrong thing to say because, as you said, the proceeds did go to charity and the murphy's have always been big on anything boston. i just didn't really like the song. the newer albums to consider are "Sing Loud, Sing Proud" and "Blackout". SL,SP is pretty good...just don't really like the new singer's voice as much. haven't heard much of blackout, but from what i hear it's pretty good. the singles collection is also pretty decent.

don't like "Tessie" much at all, but like just about everything else I've heard. Pretty decent punk band

But if you really like Irish-influenced punk, check out Flogging Molly.

The Red Sox approached them about reworking Tessie before last season. So it wasn't done to cash in on the Series win. Tessie is actually the old Royal Rooters (the old name for the season ticket holders). The Rooters showed up a game in 1912 and found their seats had been sold, led by "Nuff Said" McGreevy they stormed into the park and delayed the game. I happen to like it more than the old early 1900s version. DM is actually a great band to see live if you ever get the chance.

Do or Die is probably the best one, the new stuff is well .. kinda emo'ie.

Regardless as another poster said .. if you want real quality Irish Folk/Punk stuff .. Flogging Molly is the best band for you.

There is a pretty good website out there that covers Mike McGreevey and the Royal Rooters.

I think it is great they are bringing in a new "Tessie" to the games.

I ended up picking up "Do or die", "Sing Loud, Sing Proud", "The Gang's all here" and The "live on St. Patrick's Day" album. The last is wicked. Being a Sox fan, Dirty Water was great to hear. I dig them playing "nutty" as well.

"Blackout" is an awesome album. They got a song about the Boston Bruins on there towards the end called "Time to go". They play it at boston hockey games. It rocks! Go see Murphys at warped tour this summer.

I love to go and see them live any time they come to Houston or Austin. They just need to do it more often. I agree also about Flogging Molly - great band
