I agree with most of Big 12-0's post. While I enjoyed the movie overall, there were too many forced quirks. The characters were interesting and developed, so why have the knight thrown in?

I thought the ending was great, but for reasons that I could relate to.

FYI, Zach Braff is now a Grammy winner. He won for putting together the Garden State soundtrack.

Real life people are all quirky. I mean, I'm a regular dude but I can't dip my chip into a bowl of queso or salsa unless my chip is the only one in the bowl at that particular time. And a lot of those were thrown in because the movie was a comedy. I definitely didn't think there was lazy writing involved or anything. Quite opposite.

in the making of, Braff mentions that about 80% of the things in the movie were based on his real life. I would take that to mean he had a friend who worked at medieval times and walked around in his knight suit before or after work, had a friend who was not quite police material who ended up becoming a cop, etc. obviously, he stuffed it all in one movie, but its just like in perfect storm when they thru in other side plots like the shark coming on board (didn't happen during that storm, but had happened before).

I agree with watty. Everyone is normal until you get to know them.

This movie was so-so at best, it was overwritten and the music was good, but distracted from the movie at certain points.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I think my expectations were too high.

As much as I loved the movie, it's not for everyone.

As I have posted before, I love this movie too but completely understand where others wouldn't. Some movies can totally captivate me and others don't. I assume that is for most people and movies. This one just spoke to me a lot in a lot of different ways.

Thanks, Hey Nav, sorry you didn't like it.

Right on, watty, everything you posted.

And hoosierAG, that's just how I felt.

It took me back.

I finally watched this. It was a good movie. I agree about the secondary characters and some of the scenes being a little over the top, the alligator suit skating loop, the feed the children brother, the cookie cutter castout former classmate guy trying to sell him the pyramid scheme stuff in the department store.

I thought the chemistry between Braff and Portman was great and I will think of them both differently from here forward based on the qualitity performances both turned in.

I liked it and would recommend it. Also Natalie Portman looks great in Jeans.

My favorite parts were as Braff/Portman were burying the hamster and the part where they yell into the abyss of the rock quarry, great stuff!

Watched the movie this weekend. Good movie with a fantastic soundtrack.

Some of it was over the top but wasn't that the point?

I thought Natalie Portman was great but Peter Sarsgaard was outstanding.

I bought the soundtrack, and it is great. Really like the Shins and Iron and Wine and the Nick Drake.

Did not realize that there was a song on there by Colin Hay, who if my memory serves was the lead singer of Men at Work. The first Men at Work was one of the first LP records that I bought, in probably 1982 or 83. To play on my superduper Yorx Record/Cassette/8-Track 5 bar equilizer green digital tuner super stereo.

I think I paid $5.99 for it(the album) at Soundwarehouse.

Anyways good to see him still making music, always thought they should have made more music, he had a unique voice.

Glad you finally discovered the great soundtrack.

By the way, The Postal Service does the original version of "Such Great Heights," and it's even better than the Iron and Wine one.

Well I also bought the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou this week.

Shall you welcome me to last year on that one as well.

Soundtrack purchases don't come as easy and often as they did before I had kids.
