How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looks like a movie about Jimmy Stewart during WWII. Just saw the commercial for it. Releasing 6 November 2026. I hope they did a good job with it, he deserves that. Does anyone have any info to add? I didn't even know it was going to be a thing. I've read Jimmy Stewart: Bomber Pilot by Starr Smith, glad that something is coming out on film.

Saw the trailer. I don't think I can watch a full feature length movie of a guy doing a Jimmy Stewart impersonation. It's too cliche.

My family was friends with one of his gunners. He spoke very highly of Stewart. Will probably check this out
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Me and a group of fellow runners regularly entered a relay marathon Stewart hosted in the Hollywood Hills back in the 80's.

I happened to be in a group of about a half-dozen random runners after a race when a black car dropped off Stewart at the finish line. He stopped, greeted each of us - thanked us and left us chuckling. He seemed like a real good dude. God rest his America-loving soul.

Not sure the audience is there for this, but I'll want to see it. Jimmy Stewart reminds me of my grandpa.

Looking forward to seeing it! I have a cousin who was heavily involved on the production side of this. Proud to see how far he has come from directing movies with all of us cousins during family reunions!

Personally, I don't think so. Anyhow my all time favorite actor and would be even without his long active military service although, this makes me like him even more.

Brig. Gen. James M. Stewart
Quote:

On March 22, 1941, Jimmy Stewart was drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces. He was assigned to the Army Air Corps as an enlisted man and stationed at Moffett Field, Calif. During his nine months of training at that base, he also took extension courses with the idea of obtaining a commission. He completed the courses and was awaiting the results when Pearl Harbor took place. A month later he received his commission, and because he had logged over 400 hours as a civilian, he was permitted to take basic flight training at Moffett and received his pilot wings. During the next nine months, he instructed in AT-6, AT-9 and B-17 aircraft and flew bombardiers in the training school at Albuquerque, N.M. In the fall of 1943, Stewart went to England as Commanding Officer of the 703d Bomb Squadron, equipped with B-24s.

He began flying combat missions and on March 31, 1944, was appointed Operations Officer of the 453rd Bomb Group and, subsequently, Chief of Staff of the 2nd Combat wing, 2nd Air Division of the 8th Air Force. Stewart ended the war with 20 combat missions. He remained in the USAF Reserve and was promoted to brigadier general on July 23, 1959. He retired on May 31, 1968.

Also flew as a non-combat observer on a a 12 hour, 50 minute "Arc Light" bombing mission over Vietnam in February of 1966.
