I searched and didn't see a thread for this one yet. Went and saw it with the fam. Visually beautiful. The final battle scene is amazing. To think they did it with stop motion animation is hard to fathom.

Story was fine, nothing super ground breaking. Felt like it dragged a little bit about half way through but overall I enjoyed it.

Loved that it was PG-13 because they could up the intensity over all but especially the action/violence.

Something even more adult would be really interesting to me.

I thought this was fascinating. Some pretty amazing artistry in this film.

Wish my kids were younger for the excuse but might have to see this anyway.

Always been a fan of Colin Meloy from back to Tarkio. Certainly some of the Decemberists stuff feels already like a fairy tale (see the entire Hazards of Love album). Some people are just so darn creative.

Reports are that this cost hundreds of millions to make and is going to lose a mountain of money.

But also the Director is Phil Knights kid and might not care since he's got billions of Nike money to back his studio. So I guess bravo to rich people wanting to fund good art and not caring about ROI

Fits with the Author also being a Portland guy and this just being a passion project.

I can't wait to go see it. I was out of town this weekend else I would have been there
