Just started on this today (I'm only about 15 minutes into Episode 1).

How is it possible that this show so consistently casts such terrible actors for support characters?

I thought the first twenty minutes were hilarious, when he is being interviewed by the police (not the subway part). Also seems as though they are ramping up Reacher's spectrum qualities.

I watched the first episode last night. I felt pretty blah afterwards. Seems like they are repeating the same story in a different setting.

Also, Reacher was barely holding his own in 2 different one on one fights against much smaller men. Well, except for the two Asian guys.

Why did Reacher tell the Asian woman he was a police officer, when he's not. Seemed like he had her rethinking her decision up to that point.

He was military police.

S1 was definitely the standout, s2 got a bit too let's just murder everybody, s3 as a whole was enjoyable.

Only an episode in but enjoying 4 so far.

Most people would consider a cop more trust worthy and safer than a random person. It was a lie and a gamble that didn't pay off.

It's difficult to not be disappointed with the supporting cast after Roscoe in S1. That set a high bar for me.

I read this comment in Reacher's voice.

I'm listening to the 8th or 9th book right now. I was using them as a filler between the bigger series I listen to, but have listened to 5 or 6 back to back now. I think it's started to wear off on me some.

The wiki for the show says he was part of the military police. So maybe more of a stretch than a lie?

I'd love to give this a miss, but the wife has OCD and cannot not finish a series we've already started. Just learned to lower the bar for Reacher and go along with the ridiculousness. Actually made it better…

The books chosen have been very interesting to point. Killing Floor was a great one (and the first book/season). I'd be really curious to know what drove the other decisions for seasons. I'm assuming something that ties in another character so it's not Jack & his internal dialogue so much, but I've liked other books and stories more.

Neither appears again in the books to my recollection, but there is an alternate series called "Hunting Reacher" that isn't nearly the same, but heavily features Findlay.

I've watched the first 2 episodes. I think I love when Reacher is getting interrogated or when he's the smartest person in the room. Yes him kicking ass is great. But I'm most entertained by his smarts.
They would have to massively jump the shark for me not to tune into this every season.

Yeah it did. I had that twist in the back of my mind. Not trying to spoil but the first time they met, they were lying and disguising their story.
I'm glad Ben has been found. I was getting tired of sad Uncle. I started fast forwarding his scenes.

Any recs for a book to start the series with? Haven't read any of them but really enjoy the character on the show.

Sequence isn't vital as most of them jump around in time, but I read most of them in release order. I've been on an audio book kick in general, but haven't done any of these on audio book. I may go back. The most recent 5 or so have shifted official authors from Lee Child to Lee and Andrew (his brother), and I would say the past 7 or so have seemed a little less great. My opinion of course. They're still worth reading, just shifts over time.

In the past year or so, Lee had a politically charged interview about the Reacher series jabbing at his very readers so I'm not too sad to see Lee moving on.

One of the worst episodes in a while. The car chase scene was absurd!

yea the car chase, the 2 female killers and the brother/mayberry cop are the worst part of this season.
which was not too bad when they were a small part of each episode.
Its still enjoyable though
