She's not been doing well over the last decade or so. Did not have custody of her kid and has struggled with drug and mental health issues.

She was a drug addict, was highly abused growing up in that scene and passed around to rich dudes. Voluntarily gave up custody of her daughter 8 years ago because she knew she was incapable of raising her. Her kid was with Klitscho - the former heavyweight boxer which is random and lives with him in Europe.

This is 100% suicide or drug overdose. Extremely sad.

Bum deal all around and a sad life for the past decade+. Anytime a mother gives up custody of her child, allowing the child to go live with the father fulltime in the Ukraine, you have to assume there's a LOT of not good going on behind the scenes.

Hollywood really seems to be tough on child actors.

I started rewatching Heroes a few weeks back on Netflix, mainly to see if it still holds up. She was really solid in it for a 16 year old and the first season was really good TV. I can't remember when it went off the rails but I'm planning on sticking with it until it does.

We absolutely loved that show the first couple of seasons but then it got stupid and we quit. I want to say it was season 3 when it went off the rails but you are also telling me this show was 20 years ago? Good lord.

Weinstein yes. But the Cory's were 20 years before her time right?

Well, yes, but she's been in the acting world since she was 1 so there was overlap in that dark period of Hollywood. Hopefully, that crap is not nearly as prevalent now.

And a very possible combination of all of the above. Substance abuse coupled with a family history of heart issues is not a good pairing.

Agreed, almost added something to that affect. It can be both a selfish and selfless act. Addiction is a f-ing sonovabich. Especially if rooted in deep trauma or abuse.

Another sad child actor story. There have been so many of these; I just don't see how parents can introduce their kids into the Hollywood scene. It's like having your kid play russian roulette. Greed, yearning for celebrity, or being naive enough that it won't get to your kid. Whatever it is, I just can't see risking it.

I am surprised she made it this long. She has been seriously messed up for a long time, bad enough that she gave up custody of her kid. She was very close to her younger brother who died recently and I am sure that was some type of catalyst for her to fall completely over the edge.
