Another vote for Succession. Great show. I liked it even better the second time.

The less-recommended AMC show that might scratch the itch is Halt and Catch Fire. Added benefit of being set in Texas.

The four leads are all incredible.

Ha! Glad you mentioned this one. I really enjoyed that show. And I'm not sure I've encountered anyone else in my daily life watched or even heard of it for that matter.

I'm currently re-watching Mad Men with my 17-year-old son. He is loving it, and I am feeling "the pain of an old wound," as Don would put it, because I started watching this when my son was born, and I can remember watching these same episodes while he was in diapers. It's bittersweet. It's a great show. If you haven't watched "The Wire," I'd recommend that one as well. And GOT.

I agree with these two as well. Bosch was great, and Ballard was meh except for Ballard's sweet, sweet FJ 60. That thing was awesome.

"Mad Men is one of those shows that gets better the more you watch it. The writing, characters, and old-school advertising world were incredible. Definitely a show that leaves you thinking about it after it ends."

Concur on all the characters being flawed, but.......

I'll always have a soft spot for Peggy Olson (except when she was fat).

What she did with the baby eliminates any soft spot for me. That part of her story felt like it was there specifically to show at the end of the day she was no better than the men at the agency. Everyone has secrets, including her. Having a successful career was no less important to her than anyone else. I thought it was necessary though, to have a character that's actually morally superior to the rest of them would have made her less interesting.

Incredible series. The most rewatchable show of all time for me, outside of The Wire.

Shameless, if you haven't already seen it. I killed all my free time for a month binging it. If you like getting sucked into a show and rooting for some characters while wanting to punch others, this is perfect. It comes at you from so many different directions.

Mad Men is so good. I am very glad that I got tuned into the show those many years ago. I have never done a full rewatch but would gladly do so. For sure on my personal Mt Rushmore of TV Shows.

Never had HBO, so watched all 5 seasons in a little over a week. LOVED IT!

So help me pick my next show to binge. I've never watched Game of Thrones, so that's a possibility. but I loved Mad Men so much I'd like to watch another show like that.

Seriously, that fight was the highlight of the show. All the other partners just stand back and let them have at it because - well, they've all really wanted it.

Lots of great suggestions. I'm giving game of Thrones a shot. and I am keeping notes on the characters.

I started this show last night, after reading some of these posts. Never seen it, obviously heard a lot about it, just never got around to watching it. Enjoying it so far, 3 episodes in.

All the smoking really brings me back to my early childhood where everyone smoked cigarettes, everywhere. It wasn't that long ago, seriously like 10 years ago, where coworkers were still smoking in the office and you could smoke in some restaurants - this was in west Texas. But there is no way that everyone would not have looked like Kramer from Seinfeld when he started a smoking den in his apartment. No one's fingers are yellow from smoking the cigarette to the butt, everyone's teeth are white, and there is not a plume of constant smokey haze in the office. It was humorous when the top tobacco guys are talking about how it's not bad for you, and then everyone starts that deep smoker's cough.

Enjoying the dialogue and the series so far; and looking forward to finishing the series.

Especially the way she always wore that pen hanging in front of her off the cantilever beam of her chest.

I originally watched it 10 years ago, but just binged watched Mad Men again. I forgot how good that show is.

I liked the ending, but I think I'd have preferred to see Don back in the office one last time, even if for just a quick second to pitch his greatest idea.

You just took me back to cleaning out my great aunt's house in Waco when we put her in a home during the summer of 1983 before we headed back home to Saudi Arabia.

She was born in 1903 and had been a widow for 23 years at that point. My memories of her for the 10 years prior to that were her on the couch watching TV while smoking and drinking Pearl beer.

When we cleaned her house out, the entire ceiling was yellow from the smoke. It basically looked like one of those smoking rooms you see at the airports in Atlanta, Washington Dulles or Frankfurt, Germany.

Yes 7 seasons. My bad. And I too was dissatisfied with the finale. But they did such a good job of props - soda cans from my youth, the alcohol my dad used to drink, the cigarettes.

And even little behavioral things. They're on a picnic and Birdie just dumps all the paper plates and stuff on the ground and walks off. We used to do things **** that because there were people who cleaned the park.

And letting kids drive. My grandmother let me drive the car home starting in about fourth grade.

One of the greatest scenes of all time from any show. It was so shocking to see that compared to modern day sensibilities. I laughed my ass off at the complete carelessness of what they did.

And don't forget Don reaching back and just throwing a beer can(?) like a football into the grass as well.

edit: I'll add that this show hits personally because my mom grew up and went to work in corporate (Shell) during this era and can confirm alot of what you see in this show was real. She's never seen it but some of the stories she's told me are wild. The sheer sexism back then was something.

And I would recommend Succession as well. We are still watching it slowly because those episodes can be intense and draining but Tom is a top 3 character of all-time for us.

These are good.

You may want to give Succession another shot and force yourself to at least watch the full first season. I didn't love the first few episodes and almost gave it up. But stuck with it and from the end of Season 1 on it was awesome, as in it's in my top 5 shows of all time.

But I get how it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

So the change over from "throw trash on the ground" to "go find a trash can" started in the early 70's with Woodsy Owl. "Give a hoot - don't pollute".

Truth be told - there weren't trash cans in most parks. You just threw trash on the ground or out the window of your car. We didn't even think twice about it.

MAD MEN was a real classic on every level

it's one of the few shows I watched every week from start to finish and am legitimately sad when it ended.

John Hamm and all the actors brought the 1960s to life and it's always sad to think of how time is fleeting and we don't have much of it on this earth.

I've heard this is good too. I need to check it out. Has anyone here watched Billions? I've heard that's good too. I know it has Damian Lewis in it.
