Yeah I thought the teachers suicide was a bit weird. I think it would have made more sense if he didn't do it and was accused and killed himself. More of a commentary on today's cancel culture and how it can ruin your life.

Maybe it was just to turn one more person against Carrie in the step sister I guess

I agree with the cancel culture statement. I also think it is a commentary on the defenders of social media and the effects. Yes Carrie red was horrible and it divided the community and upset a ton of families but hey it also revealed this bad dude. I feel that is the argument on is social media good or bad. There will always be a case where it can do good even though there is more destruction on the other side of the argument.

The teachers suicide allowed for them to frame Chris' actions/twitter as something that helped expose evil.

It's a commentary on the social / social media landscape. People can lie, smear, and say whatever they want but if they were right about just one thing (even if the percentages say eventually it's inevitable they will be), then it was "worth it" and they were "right" (once).

As for the show / finale - I thought the CGI was pretty poorly done... and not really interested in X-Men Lite cash-cow attempt ("WE NEED A UNIVERSE!!!!") when the pieces needed to even get it started are so poorly done and hollow. Even Carrie's acting - which was great for almost the entire show - suffered in the last episode because she simply had ****ty material to work with. (Though to be overly critical, she tried a little to hard mimicking the Sissy Spacek post-blood-drop walk with the bent hands and it seemed forced where as Spacek's was unnerving)

Flanagan's wife's character was fine/interesting (though he better be careful with how often he casts her, ask Rob Zombie), but the Temu Martha Plimpton and the astral projection girl cheapened the production significantly. Rest of the acting was superb.

If Flanagan wants to create the DT universe he's going to have to really expand on a lot of flimsy ideas/concepts, but the world is there... I just think it could have been hinted at a bit better in the finale rather than shoved down our throats. Have the interviewee character stop Carrie's mom heart, drop the astral projection girl altogether and just have Carrie disappearing out of town on her own post-destruction. Keeps the universe building open but doesn't cheapen the show.
