Easily one of the funniest movies I've seen years. Maybe even since Game Night in 2018? Granted, it's nothing like Game Night (though both do take place over a single night), comedies have certainly been lacking this decade, and it's a different brand of comedy for sure - super sexual (though no nudity), a single location, and basically a couple fighting for two hours. But man the cast is so damn funny, and so incredibly good together. In fact, we saw it with a sold out audience and everyone was howling throughout, then applauded at the end. To that end, it currently has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I've even seen the word "masterpiece" thrown around, though I wouldn't go that far.

It's out in limited release this weekend, but then goes wide on July 10th, at which point I'd highly recommend seeing it in theaters, as opposed to waiting for streaming, considering how fun it was to see with an audience.

Also, after the trailers ended, and even after the Nicole Kidman talked about that indescribable feeling when the lights begin to dim, ironically the lights then came up, and out popped Olivia Wilde from the hallway to surprise the audience and intro the movie. Seeing as she not only stars in it, but does a hell of a job directing the movie as well. Which was super cool, as this wasn't a special screening or anything, rather just a normal, opening weekend showing...

It's a dark-ish comedy.

It's not The Hangover or Judd Apatow funny. It's not a broad comedy.

There's a lot of arguing. A lot of awkward humor. Very much an indie vibe.

But the interactions / propositions / situations are hilarious, and it's incredibly well-acted throughout.

That said, while an ensemble, I'd say it tilts slightly more toward Seth Rogen's character overall. And he's very Seth Rogeny throughout. So if that rubs anyone the wrong way, or they're looking for something more broad/traditional, this probably isn't for them.

Are vices in general verboten (e.g. wine), or just marijuana? How many children does he need to have in order to make vices funny rather than sad/pathetic? If the answer is vices are off the table regardless of the number children he begets, he's kind of in a no-win situation.

Maybe it will be funnier as he ages into old rather than middle.

It's not just this board, the internet is full of miserable people. Post something on reddit and you will get a slew of comments because one of the actors did something 20 years ago. People just look for a reason to hate everything now.

I think the only person that no one can find **** on is Keanu Reeves. I hope it stays that way.

I hear you. It's just that this place used to be a reprieve from a lot of that crap. It was mostly normal people with only a few weirdos. Now it feels like it's mostly weirdos with only a few normals.

Whole family ended up loving it.

To be clear, that doesn't mean it's a "family movie" by any stretch - again, it can get quite vulgar and features a ton of sexual discussions - I'm just saying both generations of my particular family laughed throughout and wouldn't stop talking about how good it was after.

Personally, I caught a lot more the second time around and, as of now, have it firmly as my number one movie of the year.

Go see it.

I agree with this assessment. Seth Rogan is just disgusting. Also, Olivia Wilde used to be hot and watchable back when she was in House, but being a rad-lib has turned her into some kind of troll.

Seth Rogan is an absolute ******. His whole weed persona, his bull**** comments about being chill about your car being broken into, and how he dropped Franco, just seems like an *******. Edward Norton is the man though, and Penelope is cool.

EtA, I knew nothing about this movie until just now, from the trailer it looks good. Is this just about swinging or is there more to the twist than that?
