Great Ending - great run. Will be rewatching this series in the future.

Wanted to come back to this thread, while the middle seasons had some ups and downs this final season was nails.
Totally agree that Carmy's arc was perfect, going from the guy who had to do it all and be the one in charge to someone who began to realize that he was making those around him better. I do wish we'd gotten to see some of the other members of the team reacting to the star(s).
Forks is one of my favorite episodes of television ever, the fact that one episode of a show can show the evolution of a person from someone who didn't care about much to finding their purpose in just over half an hour is incredible. And agreed with whoever mentioned they wanted to see a one off episode of Richie's visit to the ninja museum.
I'd also submit for consideration, a buddy adventure show with Marcus and Luca pastrying their way across Europe or even just their baking exploits in Copenhagen.

I appreciated that they never really wore me out on any of the characters, yet they managed to give me enough to keep it from being the "Carmy Show." They could have easily given us too much from characters like the Faks, especially when they became fan favorites, but they didn't.
It's hard to realize what a great acting job Jeremy Allen White did until you watch him interviewed in real life. I love how they ended it with him and I choose to believe he stayed at The Bear.

This last season was perfect, IMO. Reminded us why we loved this show even after the last season or two dragged a bit.
Man, I'm trying so hard to power through this last season. I don't know if I can. After episode three I'm thinking "man, I'm glad this is the last season." It's the same thing...every season..every episode. It's too chaotic, stressful, filled with failure after failure without enough successes to make me want to keep watching. I hope the whole damn place goes up in flames and they all start working at McDonalds for a spinoff at this point. But, I stuck with it and liked it up until now, and I owe it to the show to stick it out I think.

Can we talk about Pete and how great of a character he is? He scares everyone because they can never be him and he's kind.
I am 4 episodes into season 5 - the only episode I haven't liked is Ice Chips. JLC is so over the top, I mean I get it she has to. Natalie is so passive. It's a train wreck of estrogen I cannot handle.

Not a troll. I liked DTF. It was wierd. I am still powering through the bear.

What a tremendous show. As tense as it could make you, that final 2 episodes was such a perfect send off.
With so many recent shows absolutely ****ting the bed with their final season, I felt The Bear did a tremendous job finishing the story it set out to tell.

Was this always planned to be the final season? I'm grateful they had the courage to end it when they did and not make it a shell of its former self like so many shows in the U.S.
Agreed. It was fine but glad it's over. It had no where left to go and while I enjoyed it, it was exhausting and fatiguing to watch. I can't distinguish any season from another. It was good and all but it was time. Making the main character bail after he worked so hard and got everything finally rolling pissed me off and kinda ruined it for me. They should have developed Carmy's girlfriend, so he'd have someone to slap him in the head and tell him to get his **** together and Stop being a *****.

Agree to disagree slightly. I think the restaurant genuinely gave him so much stress he needed to back off. For his health. But what I'm confused about, did he decide to come back and just be a chef under Syd? It seemed like after the interview that he realized he was meant to be a cook. But just didn't want the stress of being head chef. Could be wrong.
I may be misreading it, but a huge part of Carmy's arc was learning he only became a chef to prove himself to his brother. Mikey told he he want cut out to be in the family business, and his response was to become one of the best chefs in the world, except he was driven only by ambition. Entry Sydney, who became a chef because she fell in love with a dish. So Carmy is getting what he set out to achieve, using personal trauma to fuel perfection and exceptionalism in abusive environments. Meanwhile, he's starting to be confronted with loving people for the first time, and being loved back. And he's realizing that all he knows about himself is what he learned in these kitchens. Anyway, he walks away because he figures out he doesn't know anything about what he wants, only that he doesn't feel it necessary to define himself by proving his brother wrong, and that he doesn't love the job the way Sydney does.
I think that's part of the reason for the scene with the chef who's closing her kitchen and that goodbye party.

Their relationship reminds me of my mom and sister. Any of the JLC scenes give me legit anxiety.
I finished it last night. Season 5 was fantastic.

seems like he had an epiphany in that interview with Bonnie Hunt about what he really wanted to do.
Finished tonight, absolutely fantastic. This show just hit for me since the jump. It's on my tv Mt Rushmore. I immediately want to watch it all again, and will. There were so many emotional highs and lows throughout, which just boosted the impact of the finale. The hug that Carmy and Syd share was so deep and emotional, I felt all 5 seasons in that embrace
Random stuff... the Bear has to be the top show featuring long running commercial characters with not only Pete, but both of the Sonic guys. Very nice touch with Ebraheim telling Albert "as you wish" on the phone as a nod to Rob Reiner and Princess Bride. "Forks" is my favorite, followed closely by "Fishes". Talk about the highs and lows. Also loved Mulaney's pep talk to Carmy in the finale talking about the Berzatto family "it's the opposite of selling the house, lead with the haunted"

I just finished S5. The only thing I was hoping for that didn't get in was a scene with Carmie and Claire.
For me, Breaking Bad is still the undisputed King of TV. But The Bear certainly gets to share the top shelf of series

Finished last night. Nice ending.
I loved the first couple of seasons. The focus on the restaurant and the struggle to become world class was epic, like a fine cuisine version of "Mad Men."
Thought it dragged a bit in Season 4. But the ending was well done. One of my favorite shows of all time.
