I didn't see any posts about Nate Bargatze's first movie, The Breadwinner. It opens today and I have tickets with my daughter to go watch.

I really hope it does well because I want this brand of family friendly comedy to soar!

I'll post a brief review tomorrow.

It was cute. I went in expecting a few laughs and mostly silly physical comedy. I was pleasantly surprised in how much I laughed and how little silly comedy there was.

There was nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary about it. It is just a good, old-fashioned, family comedy. You would have expected Don Knotts to be the lead 50 years ago.

I'm glad I went and my 23 year old daughter enjoyed it with me. I hope they'll make more movies with appearances by the other comedians in the Nateland Universe. That would be very entertaining.

If you like Nate's stand up, almost no doubt in my mind you'll like the movie.
If you're a huge fan like my wife and I are, you'll catch many callbacks to some of his best jokes

Get there early to catch Brian bates and Aaron Weber

I'm sitting here waiting for the movie to start. I enjoy Nate's routines but the movie has had pretty mediocre reviews. Hope it's good!

It's an amusing bit of fluff. I was generally entertained.

I think Nate's standup routines are great. That format doesn't translate all that well when his character is actively involved with other characters, so I prefer his standup work.

I don't think Colin Jost is very funny in general, and he is not especially funny here.

I also did not care for the roofer or the father.

The pizza delivery guy did well.

The three girls and the wife were good. In an interesting twist, the girl who plays the daughter obsessed with spelling bees is the girl in the Chick-Fila commercial involving a spelling bee.

There were several kids 12-14 in my viewing along with their parents or grandparents, and they didn't laugh as much as I did, but said they liked it as they passed me on their way out.

It was a mindless, inoffensive summer comedy, which is what I expected. I still think Nate is very funny, but I doubt his future lies in movies.

Don Knotts was Mr. Furley 50 years ago.

This seems like a movie that would have made a decent return on VHS/DVD rentals and sales. I'm glad Bartgatze got a shot as a leading man, but the box office numbers show why these kind of movies don't get made often or get sold for straight to a streaming app.

Has kind of a Mr. Mom feel.

I thought Mr. Mom was a bit darker and much more mature subject matter - job loss, recession, boss coming onto the wife, etc.

Breadwinner was much lighter and sillier.

Again, go support the brand if you can so they make more and, hopefully, will get better with each one.

We're planning on seeing it for sure. We saw Nate's Big Dumb Eyes show last night and I've never laughed harder. He's incredibly talented.

We got tickets for Father's Day. Ironically, without my father, who will be watching the grandkids.

One of my favorite comedies of all time growing up and have never seen this trailer. That made my day.

Watched Bargatze on Theo Von's podcast last week promoting the movie and want to check it out.

Btw-I believe his new Netflix special is being filmed at Dickie's in Fort Worth in two sessions tomorrow (Saturday 6/6).

ETA: It is. https://instagr.am/p/DZN4L9Uk-JG
