Yeah I kind of thought it might have it.

Teyana Taylor seems like… a lot.

Delroy Lindo cracked me up all night. Unless he is smiling his resting face always looks like he is utterly disgusted with whoeever he is looking at.

Sinners was robbed for best picture.

One battle after another was fine, but it wasn't better than sinners

Gotta disagree, I thought OBAA was a better movie. But I did really like Sinners.

Ok that was pretty great.

I was ok with either, really enjoyed both. And anyone could've won for Best Actor.

I'm glad Jordan won. Sad it didn't get best film. Not getting best song was a travesty. "I lied to you" was one of the coolest cinematic moments of the past decade.

Also don't get the crap sinners gets from maga. I'm as maga as most and I loved sinners and found it not woke at all.

OBAA felt really disjointed to me. Like there were several plot lines just stuck together.

I enjoyed it but I think a lot of its popularity came from it being edgy or weird but not necessarily in a good way.

The ending credits scene and dig at Mr Beast was pretty funny

I'm not MAGA, though I'd be more on that side of the aisle, I didn't find it woke at all, I just didn't think it was a truly great movie. It was a good enough story with incredible presentation.

If you dont think she was one of the best out there tonight, that's on you... but why bother responding in such a way?

Can someone be a hero and post the final tally? Didn't get to watch tonight.

Regardless of which movie was best (and I didn't see some of them), there was zero doubt which movie would win. More years than not it's the movie that most closely aligns to Hollywood's majority political view.
I'm not even a conservative, but I gave up watching years ago.

And yet...

- The literal thematic point of One Battle After Another is to show extreme/violent leftism for the morally bankrupt pursuit it is.

- Sinners *absolutely* had a shot at winning it all - it literally came down to the wire - which, by definition, left plenty of doubt as to whether One Battle would win or not. (Never mind that half the right thinks Sinners is just as a "woke.")

But you didn't watch either, or any of the nominees for that matter, so you of course wouldn't by privy to those facts.

Why some of you always feel the need to voice your opinions, while simultaneously showing that your opinions are utterly irrelevant/misinformed, I will never understand.

"I didn't watch any of this crap, and I clearly don't know what I'm talking about, but I just thought I'd pop in to make both of those facts abundantly clear!"

Congrats!

The Jim Downey double-connection is pretty great. Reprising his role from One Battle while also being responsible for the hilarious "Jeff Epstein" bit on Conan's podcast...

I don't know if that guy watched OBAA or not but I find myself confused by anyone who thinks it's a Hollywood political love fest. I still think people who feel that way stopped watching after the first 30 minutes

Also Jim Downey, btw...

He was shown/honored, but didn't get the same special treatment as Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton, or Robert Redford, each of whom the segment stopped to honor via special guest speakers.

That's just sad then. I don't get Hollywood but that guy is up there and maybe above all 3 of them.

Robert Duvall's video portion include audio clips and went on longer than some of the others in memoriam. James Van Der Beek wasn't included

I've always loved Robert Duvall (Lonesome Dove fanatic here), but for me his career was as impactful as Reiner's or Redford's. I did appreciate the extended video tribute he received.

While watching Sinners with the wife, we were debating, is this a period piece? Is this a musical?

Oh. Its about vampires. WTF?! I loved it, she was not ready for the twist.

With all due respect to the late JVB. This is the OSCARS not "let's recognize every actor ever who died this year." James wasn't, what some might say, "An Oscar caliber actor."

Not that he was pulling down awards, but I'm sure JVB will be recognized at the Emmys.
